I thought Ronnie saved SS!
Who ever said SS was a tax is correct. Reagan lowered the tax rates on the rich and basically raised SS ....which someone else correctly identified as a regressive tax.
It is no coincidence that the Gina coefficient ( a measure of income inequity) has risen since then.

The label "Libertarian" is a caricature.
I believe the the Federal government ought to do what the Constitution says it is required to do.
I believe that the state and local governments ought to be in charge of everything that they are capable of handling.
I believe people ought to be responsible for their own damned selves, if at all possible.
I believe that, where the previous statements don't apply, the government ought to stick its nose in peoples lives at the minimum level possible.
I believe that people, and culture, ought to be allowed to develop naturally, and that the left wing fascist idiots who are attempting to indoctrinate my descendants with their views without my consent are thugs. They have the same motivations and impulses as the meglomaniacs that nearly destroyed our world in the 20th century.
That doesn't describe a libertarian.

For the most part people can do that, but a conflict arises when someone else tries to establish standards of "responsibility" to impose on those not in "power"!
BTW: Those "someone elses" are not "conservatives" ... they are the Liberals.

You're right , it sounds like a right wing loon that wants the state to control your life.
Libertarians want neither the state , local or federal government telling them what to do.
Anybody that blames the left and does not acknowledge the rights destruction of this country is a partisan hack

Actually I'm much more libertarian leaning.
I can blame both extreme wings of each party for eating away at our freedom. That you can not just proves my assertion

I've heard people describe themselves as such before. It has never been true. By posting, you have the same views as keith olbermann.
In the words of Inigo Montoya:
You keep using that word(libertarian). I do not think it means what you think it means.
In all stable systems:
First comes responsibility,
Then come rights.
That aint you.

Keith is a left wing loon.
You are on the other end of the spectrum. Which is just as bad.

I was only talking about your views on Social Security sounding Libertarian And there's nothing wrong with that.
Libertarian view on Social Security:
"Retirement planning is the responsibility of the individual, not the government. We favor replacing the current government-sponsored Social Security system with a private voluntary system. The proper source of help for the poor is the voluntary efforts of private groups and individuals."

I've never seen a post from you that hasn't been lifted from the talking points of one of the leftist blogs/shows. Perhaps I don't have the ability to understand your "point", but your posts have all the flavor of MSNBC. They seem to be hate filled, race bating, leftwing, fascist propaganda, but I only know your from what you write.
No "libertarian" would ever mock a statement of personal responsibility.
By posting, you have the same views as keith olbermann.

If the definition of "right wing" is that I want a smaller federal government, then that is what I am, but that is not the definition of "right wing" that I can find anywhere.
In summary, I think that you are fundamentally stupid and ill informed. Arguing with an idiot is futile. I'm done with you on this thread.

Really, making up a quote, and attributing to me. Not only stupid, and ill informed, but unethical as well.
Speak some more. Self illustration is the most valuable speech we can have.

I don't believe that we could ever go back to a charity basis for helping the poor in retirement. Federally funded social services are like heroin. Once our society became addicted, there was no going back. The ObamaCare fiasco has the same issue.
