Does anyone really care? No one knows the situation is anything but ordinary - and in fact, it's not anything but ordinary. I'm sure it's just another day on the job for the paramedics.

It's just wrong to leave someone who is in bad shape to fend for themselves. You don't have to give a press conference when help arrives. Just politely excuse yourself if you know your presence could cause harm to the other person's reputation.

You are normally required to give your name if he dies...a police report will be filed with you being "with him" at the time of death. It's not so simple when someone actually "dies." Why do you think in drug cases the "friends" just drop the other friend off at the ER and take off? Because there will likely be an investigation as to what happened.

So while cops may NOT be concerned with what you do for a living, they will be concerned with who you are and how you came to be with this person.

This is making me nervous...not thinking about it at all lol.

I hate to upset the apple cart, but even young and healthy folks are dying on a daily basis. I would hope that anyone would do the proper thing and seek proper medical attention for anyone in need.

As a former Paramedic.....I can tell you that it's not the Paramedics or the Fire Dept you need to concern yourself with. As London said, it will be the police. They will want to take your name and other minor info just in case something comes up at the hospital.

Now if it was me...Unless I dropped dead...I would get up, get dressed and make my way out of the room. They can call 911 from the lobby. My excuse? "I was driving by when the problem starting and came in for help"....

Maybe providers should require prospective clients to pass a rigorous physical agility test, sort of like fire departments require of new recruits. "Haul me up this flight of stairs in a fireman's carry. Carry this gigantic bag of toys, condoms and lube for three miles. Then come back, we'll take your heart rate, and if you pass, you're in."

On second thought, that actually MIGHT kill a few of us.

We will just do you to death in her hot tub so it won't look so obvious. Of course we won't be able to dump your body in the ocean being there will already be fresh water in your lungs...darn autopsy will get ya every time. You will just have to be found right there with a smile from ear to ear.

I am sure it's in all the cop shows lol. Oldest trick in the book, that people still forget. They will drown someone in a bath tub then dump the body in the ocean hoping it's not found. The key is to dump it before breathing stops...like stun them, then dump them. I am starting to scare myself here lol.

Getting a medic alert bracelet that says CALL NAOMI. And on my medical directives, rather than DNR, it will say CALL NAOMI.
