You must have never been starving. Not hungry because of a religious fast or anything, but going to sleep hungry and knowing the pain in ur stomach will b worse when u wake up. When you argue with ur loved ones for the last of the leaves with salt. When ur so skinny ur boney prominences hurt just by touching them. When you have money to buy food, but their is none to buy.
Lets make sure we keep the distinction betwn eating dogs because ur hungry, and inthis festival s case. Torture andeating dogs for luxury.

Uhm, anyway it is her choice who she wants to see or not see,
and for what reason.

If she only wanted to see Jewish Eskimos named Ralph it would be
her choice to make.

Prejudice is prejudgment, or forming an opinion before becoming aware of the relevant facts of a case. The word is often used to refer to preconceived, usually unfavorable, judgments toward people or a person because of gender, political opinion, social class, age, disability, religion, sexuality, race/ethnicity, language, nationality, or other personal characteristics. In this case, it refers to a positive or negative evaluation of another person based on their perceived group membership. Prejudice can also refer to unfounded belief and may include "any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence

Taking a generalization or something you do not like or hear from the news and applying it is to everyone in that group. Which happens to be a billion people. Houston has a fairly large asian population and 99% probably share the same abhorrence for dog meat, but do not let that stop you from banning anyone chinese based on prejudice.

there are actually constructive ways to help this cause. there is global outrage over this festival, and there are groups that you can support and donate to like PETA. PETA led protests in the past and got such festivals shut down in prior years in different areas.

There is a petition with over a million signatures to petition shut down the event
https://www.change.org/p/mr-chen-wu-...-guangxi-china

There are non-racists things people can do. I'm sure blacklisting Chinese people might make you feel good......which is weird......but find more constructive ways to make a difference that are not racist.

This^^^
Makes more sense than anything in this thread. To turn the singular event against an entire race of people, not just Chinese but Asians in general makes little sense. But, this is a hooker board and logic rarely visits us here.
Thanks Jemma for bringing this abhorrence to our attention, albiet your way to combat this atrocity is unconventional. I do think explorer317 has a more constructive solution to the problem at hand. PETA, maybe even Greenpeace have been fighting against animal cruelty and both have a pretty good track record. Personaly, not a fan of PETA, hunter and meat eater that I am, but I do love domestic critters and hate to see them suffer thusly. Thanks explorer for offering another option.

Obviously if I HAVE to eat my chihuahua to survive, she's toast (or I guess she would be a taco).

Thank goodness for Jemma; she's one of a kind. Chick could be a character in an Elmore Leonard novel, or a Carl Hiassen...take your pick. Bland she ain't. You gotta love her!

Borrowed my buddy's google and found this here:

https://www.facebook.com/notes/jelen...51059019076930

"Eleven countries around the globe still eat dog meat. They are: China, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Polynesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Arctic and Antarctic and two cantons in Switzerland."

...and how could we ever forget our Dear Leader et puppies in Indonesia? Or at least he bragged about it. And the Mexicans love their Pariah dogs.

OK, Jemma I understand the focus of your effort is the festival, which is as good a place as any to start...boycotting WalMart might get Xi Jinping's attention more than the dreaded "No pussy for you!" slamming the door shut on Chinamen.

Please don't ever change.
