the mexican pronunciation or at least the tex-mex pronunciation is more like beh-toe

but even then that's not exact as the "toe" sound has the ever so slight influence of an h sound to a discerning ear

and yeah rex, many times nics are picked up in the pen, he might have been someone's little beto in the slammer

they refuse to use Beto's name properly.. it is not Bay-toe, like most on the right say.. it is Beto, phonetically like get-oh.

mispronouncing one's name is an old tool utilized for centuries, to denigrate and show disrespect to an Individual.. a rather cheap move. if you disagree with the Man's policy objectives or stance, fine, but mispronouncing his name only shows you in a bad light.

so should he start calling himself Burrito O'Rourke 'cause it's easier to say in English?

Thought for a while that Beto was the stronger of the two, just due to all the comparisons to (and promotion of being like) Obama. Now, they are running "white privilege" pieces on Beto. MSM is clearing the runway for the annointed candidate...which will either be Gillibrand or Harris...flip a coin...both have positives and negatives for the Dem base.

was it disrespect when G H W Bush referred to SAADAM Hussein? on purpose of course. and the press was just fine with it i recall. don't recall if it was Tom Brokaw or Jennings but one of them referred to Saudi Arabia as "SAAUDAY ARAbia" during a news cast.

You are absolutely correct, Chung Tran. I've seen it done most often whenever pronouncing someone's name wrong supposedly deflects from the fact that the argument that person is bringing to the table doesn't have enough merit to stand on its own legs, so they either mispronounce or even make up a similar name to the subject, like Pussolini or some such juvenile drivel. People who do this usually don't have the mental capacity to formulate a valid and reasonable counter argument. Have a nice day.

Look in the mirror, LD
All the names for Trump - for example "orangutan", and the list goes on and on.

DPST's have no concept of Hypocrisy!!!
I would say- clean up your own house before you throw criticisms.
Even Hercules could not clean out the DPST stables.

The same could be said about you....every post has DPST in it.

Come on man , you can do better than that.

You don't see me calling Trump...Banana Republic Trump even though that is wtf he is advocating. He wants this country to be like Russia or Turkey or North Korea ... a country where you only believe the state owned media of Trump.

Now that the recession is over, those tax cuts should be reversed. Taxes should be increased, not cut. An economic expansion is the time to pay off the debt, not add to it.
A MASSIVE reduction in WASTEFUL spending...the Gumment should do with less NOT the people...quite LIBERAL ideology you have.
We'll TAX and SPEND our way to prosperity...winning combo!!
I agree with paying off the national debit...but not through higher taxation...RIDICULOUS!!
Spending MUCH less and cutting MASSIVE bloated Gummet!!
