Donnie Van Zant of 38 Special…middle brother of the Van Zant music family. Older brother Ronnie, original lead singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd who died in 1977, and younger brother Johnny who became the lead singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd after Ronnie’s death.

I honestly lost count how many times I’ve seen 38 Special at Weedsport back in the day. Those were some good times. General admission, standing room only in the infield of the race track and the doormen never gave you any shit about what you were bringing in that was rolled and usually conveniently located in your Marlboro Red cig box. IYKYK lol.

Some of you CNY ole timers might remember when 104.7 outta Cuse was still a rock radio station before it turned country. They would have ads that would say… “You know it’s summer when they’re rockin’ at Weedsport!”

(Btw, not saying any of these vids are actually from Weedsport, wasn’t able to find any…I was just reminiscing lol)

Seems you truly have no shame. There’s no need for your hate and personal attacks here. Evidently, even the music thread, that’s supposed to be for fun, isn’t exempt from your anger and divisiveness. Unbelievable…

My apologies to Zollner.

Personal? I was commenting on music, not individuals. Please stop distorting and misrepresenting my posts. It just...is not always about you.

But...my apologies to Z also. Having to see Sonny Landreth get followed by "Hold On Loosely" had to be mighty traumatic.

Here. Allow me to make amends with this rocker from the past, which I have no doubt is a fav, and gets us BACK ON TOPIC.

You are ENTIRELY welcome. And I assure you that this thread is still a whole buncha fun, gettin better by the minute:

Stefano is a highly accomplished pianist. He has played with many other great musical artists. Given the sorry state current Pop and Rock & Rock is in, I've gone back to enjoying vibrant and rhythmically tight Latin Jazz and Bossa Nova which is still quite live and well.

Here's a great Live concert Stefano did. A variation of 'Black Light' leads it all off. Love the way Armando on percussions, incorporates the Cuica into this tune.

I've had a rare time or two when I "got" Bossa Nova and really enjoyed it. I saw a show about a famous BN vocalist one time that was really mind-blowing. Wish I could remember his name. On casual listening, his voice sounded almost out of tune. Uh uh. He could do shit that was downright spooky.

Same with piano players for me. I've dabbled in Monk, a few others. I respect keyboard players more than any other musician except for vocalists. But even with outright legends like Keith Jarrett, I just can't make it stick in my head. I'll bet I would feel waaay different if I saw him perform, though. The stories of shows like the Koln Concert say it is life-changing.

Keith Jarrett, the master of improvisation and took the left hand astinato to levels never imagined before, while playing and improvising his works with with his right hand simultaneously.

Keith Jarrett – The Köln Concert 1975 [Live] was total improvisation, done on a broken piano but ended up sounding otherworldly, a true masterpiece. Had to get and got this Album after hearing it!
Enjoy.
