More pain for Daybreak Farms, which will cull another half million birds as another one one of thier flocks has tested positive for H5N1.

That's about 3.5 million birds in a week out of their 17 million egg-laying hens. They're the 4th largest egg producer in the U S.

In local news, Giant Eagle has a $1 off sale for a dozen LG Grade A White Hillendale eggs which are at $2.99 this week. EB remains at $5.49 a dozen.

More outbreaks. 8 outbreaks in Minnesota alone since mid Sept.
More culling. We probably won't see much increase here since that's not where many of our eggs come from but we're just as the start of the fall flu season.

Hopefully this doesn't get out of hand or eggs will start going back up.

Out of stock as of this post. I'm sure you can find some here and there as you go into a store but you can't order for delivery or pick up

As of April, we had seen about 30 million chickens culled across 9 states.

In the past month we've seen 4 million culls, a decent chunk of which were layers.

So if this is just the beginning of avian flu season and it's early... where do you think it goes as far as lost layers by EOY?

Especially with higher tariffs than we had last year on the same places we hope to import both eggs and layers.
