Do you have any idea what percentage of the cost that tax payers paid for the stadium?
Im sure most people would guess that it was 80% or 75% or at least half.
Actually, the Arlington portion was capped at 325 million.
Have you been around the stadium in the last year or two?
The roads have been upgraded, severely upgraded in some instances.
Numerous new restaurants and nicer Hotels have opened. Some seedy notel type motels have been closed.
The Cotton Bowl is an annual event, as well as at least a couple other Bigtime
college games, such as Mich/Bama this Sat, that draw at least 75,000 fans.
This generates a minimum of 20,000 hotel room rentals, for one or two nites.
Two to four meals eaten at local restaurants per person...
CS is more than likely going to be the home of the new Champions Bowl matchup between Big 12 and SEC...AND perhaps another rotating semifinal or even National BCS Championship game in next couple of years...
And we havent even talked about the 8 home games for the Boys each year
and the residual income that they produce....
I would CONSERVATIVELY guess that Arlington will have recouped their investment in a couple more years, 3 at the very most.
BTW....the tax-payer portion of cost percentage is 27%..(325 million of 1.2 billion)
Looks like money well spent at that point.
