Great thread Malaya! Everyone's situation is different...I've had a few and it didn't work out for me, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't for someone else. By making mistakes is the only way to really learn...but, I sure wish I had someone to give me advice!!
There are people who live the swinger's lifestyle and it works well for them. If two people are secure, mature, have great communication, and their expectations are clearly understood...then, I don't see why they shouldn't at least try.
There's never a guarantee on any type of relationship. I say go for it and see what happens! Life's too short to worry and not do anything. You can live with regrets where you tried and failed...it's very difficult to live with unfulfilled regrets!

I thank everyone for their opinions. I am single and new to the dating scene. This is how I see it. I make damn good money and it allows me to provide for my children without welfare as well as gives me time to finish college. I have been told by a guy before that I am considered "used goods" and not dating material. In all honesty it hurt, but who comes first? Some man who wants me to stop my job and go back to minimum wage, welfare, and struggling? Or my kids who look to their mommy to provide for them and be there for them? I do plan on dating seriously once I finish my degree and get an awesome job. I understand that it is hard to date a Provider.
I know many of you are curious as to what made me post this. I admit that I do have sexual feelings for a hobbyist. I do not know him enough for it to be more than that. I have already talked with him and hopefully he will be seeing me often. I will not mention his name because it is not my place to bring him into the limelight per say. If he chooses to he can mention himself.
I really appreciate those that are understanding of the situation. Dating a provider or hobbyist is very difficult to balance. For those of you whom are going through the same thing I send you Love and Good Karma.
Kisses to Everyone!

Not judging but take care of your kids, school, and job first. You have plenty of time for your love life. I highly doubt the guy is going to admit this.

Sounds like you have your priorities straight and really thought this through.
Good Luck. Love is everything but easy.
"Used goods" is a horrible thing to say to anyone. No one deserves to have that said about them.
You value as a person comes from your family and friends; what you mean to them and thats all that matters.

Somehow or another, you opening up and posting your feelings about this casts you in an even more appealing light than before!

What an idiotic statement. I hope that guy gets nothing but virgins for the rest of his life. I will happily take the experienced ladies.
I envy the guy. Good luck.

Be patient Malaya and all will work out and glad u have things prioritized and dont let anyone call u used goods.. Some of us make choices and its a sacrafice of one another and i think that ur doing a damn good job providing for ur kidds and urself..
love will come and go but its a matter of making it work with the good and bad.. My friend has a bf and she is an 8am-8pm provider with pre booked appts [24hrs notice] and has a seperate room for everything .. her bf knows she is a freak in the sheets and he wrks and cant give it to her all the time so letting her release her cummings to someone else is ok as long as its just sexual and nothing emotional and intimate per say..
they have one of the strongest and secure relationships that i know inside and outside the hobby life.. Im not sure if he still sees providers but if he did i dnt think it would be a problem .. they are just secure and ok with it.. ..
i wish u well and family first and education .. u still have lots of time for romance ... but thanks for being so open with the board and most dont have the courage to speak up and say it ..
take care

You are going to get 3 kinds of answers depending on the posters' personal history.
1. "You have to be open to it, people are people no matter how they meet" from people who have never done it.
2. "YES! I met my BF/GF in the hobby, we clicked immediately and now we are the best couple ever to walk the earth" from people who are currently doing it.
3. "NO NO AND ONCE AGAIN NO" from people who have done it.
