What Ms Fran, NastyCanasta, Budman33 and Vyt have said about (in)security is true and important.

Everyone here lives in a glass house. I just don't understand why some throw rocks.

Honest and impartial?

So far your "contributions" to this site have been to bitch that others' contributions haven't been to your liking, bitch that you don't like Whispers, bitch that you don't like the "Attack Pack" (whose membership list only you're privy to), and bitch about time other have and you don't to post.

I see you far from being an honest or impartial member of this community with even a modicum of ability to discern what is credible or worthwhile. Instead, you are purely the reaction to what you perceive as "Attack Pack" and end up being a less than zero presence on the board.

While lurkers may not contribute in the way of information, reviews, or thoughtful opinions, they don't bitch because the board isn't presented to them in a manner they want. They tend to take it for what it is and understand that if they don't contribute, they don't have much in the way of what's on the board. You, however, have taken the approach that even if you don't, you should bitch to make it better or more palatable to your tastes.

So please, do us all a favor and publish this list of Attack Pack membership. I know Whispers, Sixx, Wyldeman, Cruzer, and myself are part of it, but apparently, there are others. Let us all take part in your wisdom so we too can know whose words have no meaning and who has credibility.

how seriously should it be taken, well that ultimately is up to the mods' discretion.

Yssup can be a funny dude, but lately has been going down the Bill Hicks/Lenny Bruce path of taking himself, and this board, too seriously. Like this need to "enlighten" us lowlifes, especially in the political threads.

I don't think he should be banned, but I think Sixx has every right pointing this stuff out, because outing anyone is definitely not cool and crosses the line. It might make people take their privacy more seriously.

There's a difference between living in glass houses and walking around the neighborhood with armful of rocks, threatening to start throwing them if we don't all listen to his inane ramblings about the end of the world.

I think everyone here understands and assesses (to our own level of exposure, risks, and priorities) our involvement in the board and hobby, it's worth noting some who potentially pose a greater risk than most of are willing to expose ourselves to.

zzzzzz
Actually it is a very "real" consideration for anyone who exists in our community. There is nothing wrong with the discussion of this topic or incident. Nothing will change with the decision of the local Staff (already made) regarding this issue so I am not sure what kind of "ace in the hole" this could be????????

While this is something that could, should, and was RTM'd when it originally occurred, there is nothing wrong with a discussion of this topic. Based on views and post count, it is an interesting topic to our members. It is not a topic that should cause a division of our membership. Everyone is entitled to an opinion on this subject and seeing the opinions of the membership does help Staff when faced with instances like this in the future.

Careful. When you question a members honesty the Staff has to ask for your rational. If you have proof that he or another member of this site is dishonest, PM it to us or post it and we can address this, but if you don't please refrain from disrespectful and insulting comments such as this. He is a member of this site as are all who have commented here and each and everyone deserves the same respect. If you don't like his words or posts, that is your perrogative, but refrain from these types of accusations without something substantial to bring forth.

I keep hearing about the "Attack Pack" and it's membership. While I do see divisions amongst members and ther are lots of like minded members that tend to come down on one side of a discussion or the other, I don't believe that there is one or another particular group of individuals that conspire to incite mayhem. To what end?? It would seem to me that outing or threats of outing would play a larger role in "bringing down the community" than a healthy discussion of members opinions regarding the subject.

On a related note what is the formal name of the Attack Pack's opposition and am I considered a member?

My opinion (for what it is worth) is that you some of you kick a gift horse in the mouth.

I have always found certain Austin posters interesting.......it is like watching a driver in a hot rod rocket that is on the verge of getting away from him all of the time. He is always pushing it to the edge......the problem (or not depending on your point of view) is that at some point it will always get away from him........in true racer fashion, they get back on the rocket and attempt it again......always scratching their heads at the repeated outcome.

It is like they know how to antagonize and manipulate a thread........but, not control it.....I'm just saying.

For those so inclined feel free to start a thread on the attack pack, this thread is about something much more serious then perceptions about a few folks capable of expressing themselves.

It about those in the community that threaten to out other individuals and when that does not work, shifts their intents towards the community as a whole.

We recently lost a member that bowed to the pressure of personal threats of outing to family and peers. It's a shame that there are those that feel so inclined too want to manipulate the life of others through fear.

But I personally believe there are members amongst us that feel the need to regularly pry into the personal lives or providers or hobbyists and then misuse that information to cause harm.

A lady friend of mine experienced this at due to the irrational behavior of another lady a few months ago.

It IS a problem.

Why does the community seem so much more tolerant of someone that "loses it" and makes threats but we cannot discuss the danger of someone's drug habits?

I believe some lose cannons will eventually "go off" and people will be hurt.

I came very close to canceling a luncheon as the result of one loose cannon making threats which would have disappointed many of those in attendance.

We almost canceled the Christmas Fund Raiser as well.

Discussions with other organizers and staff led to the original plans going through but one of these times we will see something as the result of one of these tantrums thrown by someone like Yssup Rider.

Why do you guys (Austin) push the envelope with each other (all sides do it)......then, get all worked up at the nuclear meltdown that ensues?

It is like your goal is to see if you can push each other to the point of no return....and the one who falls off the edge loses.

I say embrace your adversaries.....iron sharpens iron......I have never advocated the dipshits I have fucked with be removed from the board.....no matter how much they have threatened me ( and there have been some good ones).....win with the intellect of your argument, cut them down with your wit, feed them their own words.

Snuggle up next to them and slip them a little tongue every once in a while......it really is more fun when you are fucking with them and they know it......but, are not quite sure how.

Whispers, he wrote what he wrote.......he edited it......was caught anyway.......if you were not a rocket racer, your question would have more credibility.....if he had written it to a hobbyist not riding the rocket, it would have been more egregious........but, (like it or not) posters out on the edge are held to a different standard.........(take this for what it's worth) quit standing at the edge bitching at the other guy standing at the edge.......climb back on your rocket and go for it......or......hang up your gloves and sit in the stands........I prefer it when you are zooming at the speed of sound teetering on the edge.......this whining shit, not so much.

Go whip his ass (metaphor) in the Spider Hole and get it out of your system......you and sixxbach can even tag-team his ass.......by the way, the Prime Directive not to speak to each other does not apply in the Spider Hole......in case you were wondering.

You can look at it a few ways.

There are friends that are OK with making fun of each other's mothers, joke about sleeping with your sister, but there are some who will actually bang your sister, get her pregnant and run away.

There's always going to be arguments on a board, most people know where to draw the line. Then there are the mentally unstable who will take it one (or a few) steps too far. Regardless of if anyone is pushing the envelope or not, at some point, something or someone will cause that unstable character to go over the edge. Better it be done on the board where we can see it than something off the board set them off and we lose a member or a member's real life gets fucked because of it.

You can also look at these spats like a bar fight. Nothing like a good fist fight to hash shit out, especially between guys, then sit down and grin over a beer. But there are the idiots that will pull a knife at a nice, civilized fist fight.

I thought we were discussing it.. 3 pages here and ongoing, 5 pages in the apology whatzit thread, another 3 in the aftermath before closing of the first one.

I thought this was about one guy, now you mention a lady, and 'those' and apparently this is much a bigger problem than I had any idea of.

In the context of this one event, I think its plainly obvious what you wanted, that apparently didn't happen. I think there is more outrage in your posting because there wasn't an overwhelming public outcry resulting in mods stepping in and pulling a permanent ban against another member.... than you are about honest discussion. lets vote on it, mods want to know what we think. my poll would be:

O 1 month ban
O 3 month ban
O lifelong ban
O keep your private information private and don't expect a SHMB to attempt to protect it for you with a ban from said SHMB website.

this almost reads like a movie. Now I wonder if Yssup was an original member of the Attack-Pack, but there was a falling out over a stripper named candy, he knows where she's buried, but you cant get rid of him because he's connected. so we hatch a plan, yeaaa, a plan...

While we are interested in the thoughts of members (sometimes great ideas come from the most unlikely places) we have already made a decision regarding the post referenced in the start of this thread. A poll now or then won't change the decision nor will a vote.

We view these situations on a case by case basis and the input can come from the whole of the staff, not just the local Mods. I don't know about any connections or falling outs over candy. I do know that this taken very seriously and it makes most of us very uncomfortable.

On the other hand, I do feel that there has been some very interesting commentary in this thread and the subject matter has brought opinions from more than the "usual suspects" some of which are pretty pragmatic!

Yes. We are discussing it.

And in the case of Yssup, it does not matter what my opinion or Sixx's opinions are.... there is a huge rift between us.....

But maybe he will read some of the others opinions written here and consider them vs his actions.

And to use him for example.... It is NOT a single case..... I experienced his threats firrst hand a couple of months ago... They never made it ON the board..... Some of his threats made the board in a thread that he could not edit fast enough..... Others have experienced it as well.....

But regarding the recently lost member... it was a totally different scenario with someone else...........

And then there was a third member who recently met with someone and started their conversation by letting that person know that through google and unrelenting research he had identified a variety of things from their personal life.

That is three distinct cases in a very short period of time.

As the board and membership grows it will be experienced by others.

Maybe discussions like this will encourage the Staff and eventually owners to take a "ZERO TOLERANCE" approach in the future.

Maybe not.
