When Bush and Cheney had a Democrat congress, it was the evil Bush and Cheney that caused oil prices to rise. We have a Democrat president, a Democrat senate, and it is still the evil conservatives keeping oil prices high.

Obama and Reid apparently have no power over anything. Maybe if the President missed a few golf outings, and the Majority Leader missed some cowboy poetry sessions, they could accomplish something.

You expect Boehner to create jobs? What about all the jobs created when the Democrats controlled the Presidency and the Congress? Oh, yeah, unemployment increased. Boehner has been Speaker for two and a half months, and has a hostile Senate and President. Sure, he'll be a crappy Speaker, but Nancy Pelosi makes him look like Churchill.

Still, the Soviets thought he was crazy, and along with PM Thatcher and John Paul II, helped bring down the Iron Curtain. Most underestimated Republican president: Eisenhower. Most overrated Republican president: Lincoln.

Darlin', I was just making a point that all president's inherit problems. I've liked some Rep presidents and I've liked some Dem presidents. But, none of them are perfect and I take into account that there were problems before they come into office and I'm sure they'll also create more problems while in office.

I don't pretend to know all about politics, hell I even admitted that I need a tutor.

Monger you have selective memory. Yes, Bush did sign the bailout but under what circumstances? Come on, I'm sure you know... Okay, this is for MsElena. The democratic Congress put together a bailout package for Bush and Bush called in both McCain and Obama. He said that one of them would be president when this went into effect, did they want him to sign it? Both McCain and Obama wanted Bush to sign the bill. So Obama's hands are not clean for those of us who think the bailout, and Tarp, was a mistake. Obama then went on to spend our tax money, and our childrens tax money, on bailing out unions, cities, and states who voted for him. 3/4 of the money spent so far (there is still about 300 billion not spent yet) was spent in states that Obama carried. McCain would have been just as bad since he supported it.

The original TARP was put together by Treasury Secretary Paulson. A one page spending request for $700 billion with no strings attached and no oversight by anybody. Paulson who was the former head of Goldman Sachs decided to give them a huge bailout, but let their biggest competitor (Lehman Bros) go down the tubes. Talk about helping out your buddies.

Yet you somehow managed to get contradicted by the facts in the next post. Hrmmm.

Since you're a know-it-all, why don't you say how much TARP costs? I'm not talking about how many billions were authorized ($700 Billion) or how much was spent ($296 Billion). I'm talking about how much TARP costs after all of the money is paid back. Less than $25 Billion. Under your economic principles, the economy would have just died. All of the American automakers would have died. Yes, even Ford.

Compared to all annual defense spending and defense related spending (about $1 Trillion), $25 billion to save the entire economy sounds reasonable. I don't like the actions that led up to TARP, or the crooks on Wall Street, but TARP itself was a fairly effective solution to a horrible problem. The alternative would have been really nasty.
