I'm sorry, but a moderator's job is to enforce the rules of the board owners. This is evidenced by the latest efforts by reddit when they canceled 5 sub-reddits. The will of the owners is what drives membership and revenue.
A moderators job is not to lead but enforce. If the board's direction is to be lead by the will of the board, then y'all suck at it. The rumors abounding between rockerrick and whisper's tg/M relationship and how it is influencing the Austin ECCIE board simply due to whispers *WHORE* *WHORE* *WHORE* campaign is an example of unprovoked name calling campaigns.
There is a level of civility that the OFIO and his minions have forgotten. And if the moderators job is "A moderator's job on this board is not to lead. " then you have never moderated on another discussion board. And, AND IF, the board owners really, truly, agrees with your stance on moderating and allowing the OFIO his un-moderated opinion, I for one would love to hear from the board owner on his/her stance on the topic. Free speech is one thing, but to say the moderators job is " A moderator's job is to help members get the most out of this site whether it's to verify new providers, approve reviews, help with edits, reinstate provider status, many things actually. "
Really?
And not once mention keeping civility and personal accountability, particularly from the OFIO?

You just posted above that he maneuvers within the board rules and by your words, its "beautiful in its simplicity." The bottom post contradicts your first statement.

I never said that we don't enforce guidelines, obviously we do. I guess I have to spell out for you the guidelines we enforce. We have to edit (moderate) racial statements, personal information, outing, forbidden topics such as minors, illegal drugs. That's where edits come into play. Those are just a few of the guidelines we enforce.
Well, I am really off to bed this time, gotta travel early. 530am will be here soon.....

Anyone with over an 80 iq can see that the word whore functions as hate language. Toyz used to do it too, and when I pointed out that the word hoogar was oftentimes used in the same way as the n word, I got pointed and everyone thought I was a racist.
No... Some that did not know you were a racist caught on at that point....KNOWING is not thinking..,....
Bullshit. Words are important; they create the construct by which you are seen. Whispers knows this very well. Yes. I do...
What also amazes me the moderators refuse to lead. The rules are meant for interpretation, so tZke up that mantle and lead.
First of all... we have guidelines... Not rules..... And the Guidelines only get "interpreted" by those that do not understand them or refuse to familiarize themselves with what the owner intends them to accomplish.
The guys here are so cowed by each other. It's so fucking weird, man. Never seem anything like it.

Unlike a lot of places we have a set of MODs here in Austin that are pretty familiar with the Owner's intentions with the guidelines published. Being around a long time and privy to many discussions on the purpose and previous interpretation of guidelines allows one to gain an understanding if desired....
I have that understanding.
the Austin MODs have that understanding.....
SOME of the membership does.....
The first thing you whores need to understand about the purpose of ECCIE is that it caters TO the men.
Outside of your ads nothing is needed from you.

The membership leads the direction of the board with the guidelines that are set forth. Yes, we are lenient. It is quite trendy to say that certain members receive no consequences. However, its rather convenient that those who complain somehow overlook their own or other's "violations". Maybe they don't notice other violations because they agree with that particular poster, but only have issue with the poster who they don't share a particular POV.
This thread is a great example of that. The OP hasn't resorted to name calling, yet there are a couple of members who are doing the same thing you and others have complained about. You don't seem to have issue with that.
#1 - Avoid cases of unprovoked rudeness to others. No place for it here. Yes, with the dynamic nature of the threads and topics, tempers will flare and things will become heated from time to time. You may often encounter individuals who become passionate or emotional when expressing one's opinion or point of view. That's all understood and perfectly acceptable within reason…….but, start slamming or bashing another member and be met with consequences.
The key word being unprovoked. Are you saying I should lead starting with this thread?
I moderate with the mentality of letting the adults be adults within reason. There are some things we can't be lenient on, but for the most part, there is some leniency.
Anyhow, I am off to pack. Heading to NOLA in the morning. Booze, boobs, and blow jobs await.
Before I forget, the ignore button works wonders...... It amazes me that people refuse to use that option.

Enforce/lead same thing here. My point is you guys tend to enforce what is concrete while ignoring the rules on here that are really meant to set the tone here. Those call for interpretation, leadership. If you want to start with this thread, do so. But, do it unilaterally. If the reaction to rudeness is rudeness, then address all of it. Whisper's skirts the concrete rules, but not the more abstract ones. Ya'll just won't touch it. And honestly, on many levels that's fine with me. I'm finding the whole argument is becoming tiresome. What can you do? It's a private board and you, the other moderators and the owners are responsible for what you tolerate here. I'm not Gepetto and certainly am not in charge of making you real, live boys.

Only a ridiculous idealogue would see the comparison of language in specific marginalized groups as racism, or rather the way language is used to marginalize.

Ehhh, you can have it. I was done playing with it any way .
Do you wake up every morning and think, "Today, I'm gonna be the most tedious motherfucker on the internet". Cuz, if so, kudos. Score .
I get that you're miserable. You spend all of your time in strip clubs where the little girls run from you. they can't stand you, dude. They laugh at you. You pay for companionship and then pretend they are your girlfriends and then come on here and take your miserable shit pile of a life out on an internet forum. God damn, your're a trainwreck.

Obviously the owners can set whatever policies they want and even selectively enforce them as they see fit. That's a privilege of ownership.
That Whispers brazenly and consistently ignores 1,3 & 4 (and occasionally others from time to time) with apparent impunity is obvious to me and is out there for anyone to see. So be it. That's just how it is.
In a sense I think this tolerance IS an example of leadership by the ownership. Unless they are completely checked out and this is all on auto-pilot there's no way the owners of this board don't know of him and haven't at minimum reviewed his posting behavior. So it is reasonable to conclude that they have decided that the ways and contexts in which he violates the conduct guidelines are supportive of or at least not damaging to their goals for the board so far.
