Conservatives are selfish people by nature.

A thread about taxes really highlights that fact. They come up with all sorts of ways to rationalize their greed. They gloss over that a Flat (percentage) Tax is not really a Flat Tax at all. A true Flat Tax would be where everyone pays the same dollar amount. They usually bring up the tired old welfare mother myth. Sometimes they get philosophical; "What IS rich?" or "What IS a truly fair tax?" or "How much SHOULD the government tax us?"

All of these are just attempts to obfuscate the simple truth that Conservatives are just plain selfish.

Most of you guys are Conservatives and will (as expected) be OUTRAGED at my post. OUTRAGED, I SAY!!! LOL, DILLIGAF? But what I've just done is plant a seed inside your head. From now on, every time you read something by a Conservative about taxes you'll be thinking "Longermonger was right. This jackass IS just a selfish a-hole. I bet he was one of those spoiled kids that never shared his toys."

Question for you catnipdipper - if the Dems had control of Congress for 40 years prior to the GOP takeover in Nov. 1994 (that would be the Congresses from Jan. 1955 through Jan. 1995), how could a Republican Congress pass this when Gerald Ford was President from 1974 to 1976 and was in Congress from the 60s through 1974 (he was part of the Warren Commission in 1964)?

Good find, COG. I remember when the tax returns for Joe Biden, Al Gore, and Bill Clinton were published. I think Biden was the worst, averaging about 1% charitable contributions annually for the better part of a decade.

I would disagree with you on this point. I would say that all Americans are selfish by nature - they want to keep as much of their money as possible. It's just that Conservatives recognize that when people earn their money, it's their money, not the Government's.

If you want to be unselfish and contribute more in taxes to make yourself feel better, be my guest. Send more in on April 15th to make up for the money I would pay on April 15th. It'll make you feel good by being unselfish and make me feel good by allowing me to keep more of my own money.

Well I just looked up a chart and the Dems have not always had control of congress. In the House maybe until Newt and the boys but it for sure would have had to have had some bipartisan support to be there.

So instead of debating the theories of different taxation methods or the fact that almost half of all Americans don't pay ANY federal income taxes on an annual basis you choose to fire off personal attacks instead... huh..
