Many years ago when I thought about seeing a provider I whipped out my…er…laptop and started doing some research and was quite frankly amazed to see the diversity of “ads” out there. Eventually finding my way to these discussion boards (I quite enjoyed reading the old HDH) and now to a certain degree this one. The conversations really do have that feel of coming from people who know each other (something worth keeping in mind - thanks Camille for pointing that out).

In those early years, I admit that I was totally transfixed by the advertising. Sex sells. And a well appointed website, good phrasing, pictures, reviews….well, you get the point.

Several discussion boards and 23 pages of posts from this thread later...I still like a good website. But, I have to admit that I see some of what Nina is saying. In my many travels throughout these United States (I’m an American) I’ve always been amused to see signs above restaurants that say things like “Good Food”, or “Hot Food”. Recently, I saw a sign over one truck stop - “Clean Restrooms”…. These signs make me smile! One of my favorite diners in the Midwest has a sign that says simply “Food”. If you are wondering - the food is in fact hot and good.

As mentioned earlier about my favorite – McD’s – 100 Billion served…can be taken as “food of the gods” or “a billion flies can’t be wrong”…

So what’s my point? I guess that - as many have said more succinctly than myself – “Diamonds”, “HDH”, labels in general - are all in the eye of the beholder.

Now to fan the flames under PJ’s popcorn…this issue of education…and the list…

As an educated American with socialistic and communistic leanings, I think we have a really distorted view of what “educated” really means. Generally it means that the person is likely to have access to a higher paying job. And I agree that is true. However, there is an erroneous (this is my opinion) belief that education in some ways equals intelligence. Or worse yet, that educated is the defining characteristic of intelligence.

In thinking of those early days in looking at the ads…I have to admit I brought a fair amount of stereotypes with me about what an escort was. Reading the ads and seeing the level of education and talking with providers I was admittedly shocked. I feel pretty ashamed to say that now, but it really shattered many of those stereotypes. However, in reading this latest thread it made me realize that for a while it only gave way to a previously mentioned stereotype – education equals intelligence. I’ve done my fair share of traveling; shared beers and popcorn with people of all backgrounds and the one thing that is most clear to me is that – a person’s intellectual curiosity, their intelligence did not require the proper documentation.

Diamonds come in many colors, cuts, shapes, and sizes. Warmth and brilliance… Prices across a wide range… And as much as I like the term “Diamond” for reasons of variety – I find it ironic given the discussion that diamonds are not only graded on a number of features - but also in terms of…well a horrible word - “flaws”. To some “Flawless” is the only way to go, whereas for others - a little “Flaw” simply adds character. I suspect that some will say this is too politically correct to object to the word “Flaw”. But there it is… I said earlier that - “Diamonds”, “HDH”, labels in general - are all in the eye of the beholder, but let’s not forget that labels do carry connotations.

Just my two cents with inflation…

True, some confuse education with intelligence, which is absolutely not true.

I am the BEST example for that. I am completely dumb and managed to pass thru university!! I mean - ask Charles!!! he was shocked out of his comfortable socks! (rofl)
Learning things by heart and make a few papers is not really so much intelligence anyway :-). Most people are capable of doing that. Its often the money (in the USA) that lacks so some simply do not have the privilege.

As far as i know Intelligence is not measurable anyway. Its culturally biased :-). So the common conclusion is that intelligence is defined by "what an intelligence test measures". Intelligence tests are highly biased and not free from cultural norms, which means that the test measures knowledge (within one culture) and "learning by heart skills" instead of intelligence (which should be universally defined as the same trait(s)...) So intelligence has to be the same in Japan like in the USA. This is never the case. Recent developments have come to try to make "culture-free" tests or diagnosis, but basically it still comes down to the good old basic and that is "its impossible to measure intelligence".

I do heartfully agree that intelligence is not measured by education. I think what makes an person a valuable member of society is something like ethics. But that is also a terrain people differ. :-)

I see the education bit really as more a statement about socio-economic class. If a lady is "educated", she is doing this because she chose to -- she has options and this seems best for her at this point in time. She is not of a "class" where there is no choice -- the dreaded "streetwalker".

Many guy's sexual fantasies largely revolve around people like them -- the hot young gal that they saw in the market -- "Boy, I'd like to do her." This is a means to accomplishing that.

That is very true. I think there are so many different types of intelligence out there that it truly is impossible to measure. I can honestly say that I have rarely met many people who I would truly consider lacking in intelligence. I believe that everyone has it there in one way , or another.The one thing that college education does prove is that a person is able to commit to , and finish something that clearly does require a great deal of dedication.It is something that I have always admired in others, but I am afraid that my attention span has been too short to pull it off. I agree that ethics says far more about a person than an IQ test ever will.

true . for a fantasy. but choice is still overrated. Sometimes streetwalkers also choose to walk the street. (Hell, in Italy the hottest models walk the street. I know women who are real models ... and earn a living with that....walking the streets in Rimini , Italy every summer - I think no one would hire me for working there I am simply not good looking enough :-).... ). If anyone ever was to Italy , its a MUST see. Women dressed all Gucci and looking like supermodels and walking the street. That taught me a lesson in tolerance as well.
