The clubs don't make the money they did in the late 90s or early 2000s so $62K will be expensive for low end clubs like Michaels, Colorado, Gold Cup and Covergirls. They just aren't $1M/yr clubs anymore.

The City left a loophole regarding people speaking for people so the pimps and their bottom girls won't be able to bring in anymore teens and start them off working and it will make it harder on the club if they find out the girls are not old enough to drink, etc.

TABC will be watching more for underage drinking now too. With no VIP rooms, the clubs will have to raise cover and alcohol prices to offset the expense of the overpriced bottles.

The girls won't be able to make money ITC and will have to OTC now so expect vice to routinely conduct stings to set girls up.

All in all, the City just fired a torpedo at the clubs and they got a direct hit. With loopholes regarding various misdeamenors and felonies, it will be hard to license managers and girls. Let's see how it plays out.

Good point, I haven't read it, but I hope the $ amount for each club is based on revenue and not equally divided.

Well some of the clubs on that list aren't even open anymore.

The list is of 16 clubs that were in violation of the revised city SOB ordinance of 1997 due to being to close to a church, school, day care, etc. They have been in a lawsuit ever since.

The clubs not involved in the lawsuit and thus not on the list are not part of this settlement and must comply with the current SOB ordinance as they have been required too.

Has this deal been "approved" by the City Council? I think it has to be or it's "non-binding" ... if it ever can be "binding" ...

I don't know what you mean by "deal" but the settlement is announced on the City's website.

I agree with the rest of your statement and if I have time, I'll look into the legal precedent for settlements such as this one. I don't think other clubs have to pay to be part of the settlement (though I haven't read enough to be sure), but rather have to apply to be part of it and then have to adhere to the rules set out in the settlement regarding pimping, criminal records, private areas, etc.

I'll get back to you on that....like you, I find it quite interesting.
Didn't have time to do individual research, but here's an interesting commentary:

Additionally, remember this isn't the first "shakedown". The rape tax is really out there...

Thanks for the clarification, this was not meant to disrespect anyone or the hobby itself.

No disrespect, TT! Everyone in town is a bit confused by this whole situation and waiting to see how it turns out.

My view is this...for now, the police can't come in and arrest girls for silly BS (e.g., less than 3ft, no latex, no full bottoms). That in itself is a good thing if you look at it independently. Can they bust people for actual illegal (sex) acts? Yes...I know that sucks for guys who want to play ITC, but it's a bit more understandable the BS that has been going on.

There's a bunch of customers are going to be happy that they can get a full contact lap dance for $20 again...guys who don't want the upsell.

It's going to be very interesting...we will see.

To help out the out of towners, I'd like to see the 16 come up with a "Good Housekeeping" style seal of approval to place on their doors and include in their ads.

Bare Titties
In Yo Face!

I think this is a good thing as long as everyone remains somewhat discrete. Don't brag about what goes on and we won't see it. Once the city starts getting used to the $1 million/year, it won't want the strip clubs to give them a reason to raid them and turn that spigot off. But either way, will be interesting to see what happens.
