...really? Joking around has no place on this forum? Gabby didn't take umbrage at my post--she has a sense of humor. In fact, most all of us here have a sense of humor. Ahem. Methinks you doth need to relax, Sarge. Maybe call yourself up an UTR?

I have a great sense of humor!

In this case, a valued member of our community asked a question that was on topic and respectful.

Your response, while it may have been humorous, was dismissive to her question, and by extension, dismissive of Miss Gabby.

My comment above simply pointed that out in a polite and civil manner.

You state emphatically above that "Gabby took no umbrage at my post". May I ask, did she in fact comment to you, or to the public to that affect? Or did your "humor" drive her to silence here, therefore allowing you to make your assertion?

If you truly meant it as "humor" and truly did not mean it as dismissive, then your response when that possibility was pointed out should have been along the lines:
"Gee, sorry, I didn't think anyone would take my attempt at humor that way. Gabby, if you took offense, I am sorry. A straight answer to your question is........"

Your response is telling.

Gabby, please feel free to chime in. Your point of view is welcome.

Respectfully to all, even superman and his friends.

Sarge, I have no need for anyone to put words--or my feet--in my mouth. I'm more than capable of handling either or both as the situation calls for. Thanks, though.

SA Town,

Ahem. You and I did not have a conversation or PM about this. Truth be told, I did take offense. I do not post questions or comments too often and when I ask a question nicely, I really do expect a nice answer.

newwave gave me a nice answer and it was helpful. Your answer, while you might think it was funny, was belittling to me and made me feel a little put down, as if I had no right to speak up in coed. If you guys want to talk about us, as you often do, there is a mens locker room. We have a ladies area too.

Coed is supposed to be nice and all are welcome. You didnt' make me feel that way and Old Sarge spoke up for us ladies, as he always does. thank you OldSarge!

all I can say is this, you made me feel unwelcome.

Kalel made me feel unwelcome.

Mean people suck.

I am a very nice and polite lady and am quiet on the board, but I have no problem standing up to bullies or people being mean to me or the ladies on here. Live life to the fullest and life is too short.

You seem to be doing a great job all by yourself - with or without assistance from anyone that lives under a bridge. (See? I DO have a sense of humor)

That seems to contradict your statement:

Before you take your ball and go home, you may want to apologize (or not - I am not going to put words in your mouth).

Gabby, no harm intended. I didn't mean for anyone to feel unwelcome or put off by my comment. My answer was delivered tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek, with a grin on my face. It wasn't intended to drive you or anyone else out, off, or anywhere else in particular. My comment was made in levity and jest that apparently landed far more flippant than humorous. My apologies all around. Smile, folks!

Life's too short to take everything seriously.

Thanks for the additional "tip" Sarge. Again: I can speak for myself, and can even form the words into an apology where it is necessary. While you have proved again master of the multi-quote, perhaps a more patient hand (and attached button-clicking finger) might lend itself to the peaceful resolution that you seem eager to force. Or...you can shake the can of pennies some more. Your call.

...and the my "or feet" reference was an intentional, referential nod to this situation. It's always a relief when subtlety isn't entirely lost.

Apology accepted. Apologies go a long way with me.

And I still am sincerely curious as to the reasons gents prefer UTRs to "normal" ECCIE providers.

I would like to hear more.

Thanks, all.

I think there are a couple of reasons.

First, guys like to have "the inside scoop." We all love knowing a secret--and what could possibly be exciting a secret to know than a provider who is unknown-by-most, but-available-to-you?

Second, I think it has some to do with the perceived volume of clients seen by a "normal" provider as compared to an "UTR" one. The UTR girl sounds like, by her lack of marketing alone, that she is more selective with whom she elects to see. The normal provider is out there marketing her availability, services, and reviews as a necessary part of continued business. Is it necessarily a fact that any given UTR girl is actually lower-volume than any given provider? Nope. Whereas the girl on BP, Eccie, or P411 might in truth screen more prospects out and ultimately see fewer clients than the UTR girl who is word-of-mouth only, perception sneaks in and plays a funny trick in adding an air of artificial exclusivity to the UTR date.

All of our brains play tricks on us...I think the mystique and grail-quest for a perfect UTR girl is one of 'em.

I've done two UTRs the past 3 years, and only one verified provider. In my case I am so sporadic that I'm just not verifiable on my end. UTR is more exciting also.

A UTR is an "under the radar" provider. They do not advertise their services anywhere and usually have an arrangement with a handful -- sometimes only one -- hobbyist. This is similar but not to be confused with a sugar baby. Being a sugar baby implies a long-term on going relationship, while a UTR is typically limited to P4P encounters.

Hobbyists love their UTRs because these young ladies are typically not very savvy to the hobby world. Therefore they have no idea what typical rate structures are (and are usually compensated significantly below "market" rates). There's also a HUGE amount of ego involved with "turning out" a UTR. They are usually young women who love sex and are very selective about the company they keep. It takes a high level of confidence and charisma to develop these kinds of relationships.

As a rule of thumb, if a hobbyist openly brags about his UTRs, he usually doesn't have any. Most guys are very jealous and secretive of these kinds of arrangements. Letting other people in on them usually brings them to an end. I have only ever shared information on UTRs with her permission and to guys who have shared back. And every time I have, our arrangement came to an end shortly afterwards.

Ender,

An excellent post on this topic!

The top three points you made (IMO):

Gabby,

There are few providers in Bryan - College Station. The possibility that there are UTR providers, even a single such provider, would add to the variety and availability of providers in the area. That is my interest in UTR providers.

Actually, the UTR provider is actually something of a risk, because reviews and other information are absent, almost by definition. But the sparsity of providers in BCS makes an UTR provider something to consider. Certainly seems preferred to backpage, but that may just be me.

Personally, I am almost exclusively playing in Austin, and I have found someone I see regularly and almost exclusively. So all is well. But there are times when the transactions costs -- the drive -- makes a local alternative seem enticing. With so few 'permanent' local providers, at least so few local eccie or p411 providers, and with my reluctance to see backpage providers, the UTR providers are enticing. Unfortunately I think they also resemble unicorns, at least in the BCS area.

I am always interested in beautiful, petite, and smart women of any age. Actually I prefer mature women who are beautiful and petite and smart. The ability to hold an intelligent and mature conversation is as important to me as other physical attributes and physical talents. But I am stubborn and not willing to compromise or trade off too much in the beautiful and petite dimension. So maybe I am looking for a unicorn. I am fortunate to have found at least one....
