people did you know that general anesthesia can be refused. just as in child birth or brain surgery when the patient is left conscious, you can choose a surgeon that practices conscious or epidural sedation. the lap choley being a relatively simple procedure and quick does allow for this- as do many other procedures - ie. a lap appy. so ask your surgeon!!!ask many many questions!!! there is more than one way of doing things in the medical field- you were only offered what is easiest for them.

Brooke,
With the current situation of our government and health care get it done now or sooner.

( I also talked to the Main Man upstairs for ya, too)

I guess everything has been said and there isn't really anything I can add or write/say that will make you feel any better. Just know that my thoughts, prayers, wishes are with you and that I will still see you.

Brooke I am so sorry to hear that. Now this is not a substitute for real doctor advice. Have you tried say an internal cleanse. In the past I eat a lot of bad food for me. Greasy food, junk food...etc. So just as a car needs a tune-up and an oil change the internal body needs the same. I do an internal cleanse about twice a year. It cleans the colon, liver and kidneys at the same time. If done correctly I would not be surprised to see some gall stone come out and possibly you may feel a lot better. Feel free to PM me for more details. This may be a good option for you to at least try.

Hey Sugar,
I know why you might be under the weather...you're not getting enough red meat!
I'll try to remedy that and get over there to see you again...take care

SofaKing - loved the dentist story - brings a whole new definition to "you might feel slight discomfort..."

And Brooke, a good friend of mine had the three small holes done, and recovery was fast, and he claimed that it was so much better afterwards - know this doesn't hit your main concern, but wanted to pass information on. Prayers for you and a speedy recovery

Brooke baby, we all are just wishing you the best here and showing the love we feel for ya. Bite the bullet (and only the bullet) and get it done already. It'll be over and you'll be bitchin' about "why can't I get back on it now" before you know it. During your recovery I volunteer to care of the "girls" for you. Really throwing myself under the bus, huh?

Brooke, this is a great thread. Your not alone.
Some people have a fear of flying, some have a fear of elevators.
I have a fear of unconsciousness. As Capt. Nemo said, "sleep I hate thoses little slices of death."
Talk to your doctor. There is a way around this problem. Twilight operation. It's called low dose Ketamine. Your not unconscious but you just don't care. Like you the thought of gas is worse than the thought of having my heart cut out. When I see that mask coming at me I panic.
Good luck my lady. All will be fine.

Brooke, you had no obligation to share your medical history and issues and I think that you have some great character to share with the world what's up.

So you don't feel alone, I have bunions on my feet that need to be corrected before my feet look like my grandmothers. Whew, that wasn't so bad!

Don't feel bad that you're hesitant about "being gassed". We all have our phobias. I'll tell you one of mine to make you feel better. I have a needle phobia. If a doc really wants to stick me, he/she has to strap me down. They always tell me "a big guy like you afraid of needles?". My response is typically "fuck off and let's do it quick". Hope everything turns out well.
