iMessage isn't the problem. iMessage is a workaround that allows Mac user to message each other without using cell carrier text usage. The problem is that you have group messaging on. When enabled it sends the messages to any user associated with the apple user id.tur. Turn it off and you shouldnt have problems.

To fully lock down your iDevice:

Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services OFF
Settings -> iCloud -> Find my iPhone/iPad OFF
Settings -> Messages -> iMessage OFF
Settings -> Messages -> Group Messaging OFF

Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive -> Will list what ID's will sync iMessages

And for anyone still interested...iDevices all have location tracking to some extent, even when locations services are off. There is no sync like this on Android devices of which I am aware.

Both Apple and Android track location in some specific files that are supposed to be "very generic" as to the actual user. iPhones/iPad's apparently also have some secret file of all text messaging that gets synced with iTunes. Can't seem to find the link at the moment.

To fully lock down your Device: OFF

I am glad I chose a hobby phone which cannot do anything other than make calls and limited texting ...

BUT, as I need a new device for RW, this is all good info. THX

A lot of good info put out there...I think enough to figure out how to disrupt the synch issue. I think the best advice/suggestion you can take from this thread is Get A Hobby Phone.

Everything you get these days is full of fucking privacy landmines.

Crap like iPhone is the worst, but everything's a booby trap these days, and lots of organizations are gathering information on everyone for marketing purposes. Or more nefarious purposes.

Whenever you buy a new computer or phone, you have to go over it like an explosives expert and remove the landmines. Then watch out every time they send out an update.

Ditto for installing a new program or signing up to a new web site.

It was bad enough when it was just the hackers and big brother. Now it's big business gathering "marketing" information and they make big brother look like an amateur.
