Let me offer up a unique perspective on why some of the ladies, especially the young ones, choose to not work independently, it’s SCARY!


Contrary to popular belief, not all women who do this do it for the fun. They are not all sexy divas with an insatiable itch to scratch. Many, probably most, start this line of work out of desperation. For me, I had exhausted plan A, B, C, D, E and when my savings had run out and the lovely State of Texas denied my final appeal for thisorthat….my thoughts turned to my final option. I slept well that night but the next morning I watched my doggies play through the window and knew even that wasn’t going to work.


I was entitled to NO aid of any sorts. Hmm…work your ass off while in college, work your ass off after college to pay off your student loans, pay your taxes (hefty ‘fair’ share) and watch your homeowner investment decrease daily due to a crumbling market – oh and suffer a medical emergency where you are responsible for thousands in co-pays that your adequately insured insurance plan DOES NOT COVER- apparently that fate gets you zero in aid when and if you need it. Gee, had I had 6 illegitimate kids from 18 dads I probably would’ve been in a much better position. Now, I was starving and desperate.


I once had a neighbor who was fond of using the term “MAN UP” sometimes she’d even throw a ‘the f&ck’ in the middle of the two words for added emphasis. I remember cringing at how awful that sounded when spoken in a feminine voice – now I knew exactly what she meant. Ah ha.


Naturally I called an agency that was hiring body rub ‘no experience’ earn millions sort of ad. For the record, a very nice gentleman answers the phone number listed. He even spoke to me for an hour and made me laugh for the first time since I could not even remember. We spoke for an hour and the next day I went in to meet him. I showed up heavily clothed with a smile on my face. He appeared baffled when I handed over my most recent resume and treated it with the same care as one would a petition to save the bed bugs of America. He asked repeatedly if I was hot and wanted to remove my coat and finally I politely admitted that he did have the AC up a little high so I’d like to leave it on. I felt bad that maybe that was rude – when he then asked for me to remove my shirt, I left in tears.


Am I an idiot? No, I actually consider myself intelligent. I’m in my mid 30s and know a lot about practical things and how to take care of myself BUT I knew nothing about how the world works when you crossover in to desperation land. Luckily at my age I had the sense to know this wasn’t what I wanted. I didn’t think it appropriate and had my car to leave and drive back to my house to figure it out. I’m absolutely saddened to think of what that meeting would have went like if I were say 18 and homeless. What would have happened after I took off my top, would he have pulled out a camera or my W-2 and a payroll advance to hold me over?


I started researching and started running an ad, all alone without knowing anything about what would happen next. As luck would have it, the first two clients were complete gentleman and the third actually spent his hour explaining how this all worked. He asked if I screened, screened for what - Tuberculosis or Chicken Pox? With that I moved forward, more cautious but still fairly ignorant.

About a week later a client brought me a nice expensive candle – he placed it on the table, turned to me with a big smile and asked if I had matches – having thought I heard him say Do you like magic, I screamed out in horror not knowing if he would pull a lizard out of his ear OR wanted to stuff my lifeless body in to a locked trunk. After I calmed down, we both laughed hysterically and upon leaving he told me to be careful. I wrestled with that for a while but needed the money.


One fine day I met a gentleman on Eccie. Very nice guy who contacted me and offered up his phone number to assist me in being safe. Boy talk about a gentleman. A few days later he asked me out and I gave him directions to my house. In truth, I was excited – he had already explained it wasn’t a ‘paid’ body rub appointment but more like drinks…a date?!


He arrived and when we left my house I stood at his passenger door, he looked over and smiled and asked what the problem was. I told him I expected him to open my door and his face lit up in amusement, he politely obliged. Over drinks at a bar he kept telling me I dressed too covered up. He teased me in to trying to tie a knot with a cherry stem, which I did … I think he may have been trying to loosen me up but when I covered my mouth fully to remove the chewed stem, he looked irritated. He asked why I didn’t “spit” it out and I in turn asked him never to use that word when referring to anything involving my body. His advice was LOOSEN UP A BIT.


He then went in to a mix of scenarios that I may face in which he could assist me, these included:

Getting an apartment….why do I need one? I have a house.


Getting me to my outcalls….I don’t do outcalls and if I did, I have my own car.


Buying clothes….I have clothes, two closets FULL in fact.


Finally, he mentioned staying safe. BINGO! He told me someone could hurt me, I was too trusting and told me lots of things about screening. I probably would have READILY signed up for his service but having had a few drinks, thought it best to think it over when back to my senses.


After the talk, we had a great night. He was interesting, smart, funny and very nice. On the way out, he beat me to the passenger door and when he dropped me off at home he actually told me that he wouldn’t want to work with me even if I begged him. He did tell me to call him when I had questions and I smiled at what a nice evening I had had. He called me for a while but when I pressed him to tell me if he had a crush on me and wanted to be my Halloween date, he laughed. I told him naturally if he took out on Halloween, I’d have to meet his family on Thanksgiving, then he’d be the owner of my Christmas list and if that happened, we’d probably kiss at midnight on New Years and then I’d expect for him to settle down and marry. I asked him to not call me back unless those were his intentions and I never heard back from him. Wah L


That was 4 months ago, I’ve learned a lot but I’m also a lot older than most of these ‘pimped’ girls and I’m smart enough to figure it out as I go. I make rational decisions based on my future, not desperate ones made in the moment. That comes with age. Not everyone knows about this business from day 1, not everyone has that sort of common sense – it is not something we are all born with. There is no ‘danger’ button inserted at birth. I didn’t have one. I do now but not then. I feel deeply saddened for these poor gals. Some may be like me, some may be facing addiction and some may have just given up on the hardships of life ….. I can see that. I almost went that route – F&CK the formalities, I just want to eat and a place to sleep – you handle all the rest, take care of me. Maybe some of the pimps do, lots probably don’t.


The girls have their reasons and when I once asked that guy why he did what he does for work when he is so smart…he told me point blank that some of the girls are young and stupid. He told me that he takes care of them and doesn’t work them to death or for pennies. He told me they were safe and went in to some of the stories about where they came from and how they eventually found him. Sad.


I can’t attest to whether or not he was telling the truth but I wanted to believe him. I couldn’t image how scary it would be at 18 to be homeless and starving. I couldn’t fathom having the wits and know to fend for myself in an instant, I could barely do that now and certainly not when I was 18.


SO TO THIS: I WISH A MUTHER F@#$ Would..........+1 MILLION

but this is me now, not 6 months ago when A MOTHER F@#$ COULD.

Sadly even in all of my newly found street smart enlightenment, I read the title of this post and thought – Oh wow, Eccie is having a Black Tie event? How can I get my ticket and where did I put my glass slippers?
