Here in Houston, we have a Gun Show just about every other week end somewhere. I make a few and if there is a shortage of ANYTHING, it's because the manufacturers cannot keep up with the demand.

During the Gulf War, there was a shortage of Federal Primers, simply because Federal, (really CCI), could not make them fast enough to satisfy the civilian and war effort demands.

I have a T-Shirt that has a picture of President Obama, and the caption reads, "Gun Sails Person of the Year".

I suspect now that all of the manufacturers that make the AR and AK semi auto clones are running three shifts wide open to keep up with demand.

It would not surprise me if some of these same manufacturers were huge contributors to The President's re-election effort.

The arguement about what to do with guns is a lot like the same one we have about Illegal Aliens. "what are you going to do, round up millins and send them back".'

There are millions of firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens. Even many Liberals balk at the thought of the Government curtailing American freedoms, even those granted by the 2d Amendment.

I'm not all that sure just what The Presidents true stand is on 2d Amendment Rights. There sure hasn't been any curtailing of my ability to buy anything I want. Is there any indication this is going to change?

And don't come up with that UN crap. Our Constitution trumps everything, period. President Obama knows this.

Once you get past all of the dipshit rhetoric, this President has done nothing to hamper any law abiding citizen from buying any legal firearm, or ammunition, he, or she, wants.

I've never owned a gun in my life, but I'm seriously thinking it's time to get one. Couple weeks ago, I caught a probable Obama voter in my house with a laptop and other electronics in his hands. If I'd had a gun, he probably wouldn't have been able to get away while I was waiting for law enforcement.

He did leave the laptop and other stuff.

I don't think it's going to get better anytime soon.

I see noone here, including the OP, has a clue how to read the graph, and the headline is a complete lie.

The red line is either 0 or 1, and uses the right hand scale. My guess is that shows whether we are in recession or not. Yes or no. It is not a prediction.

The blue line shows a probability, and uses the left hand scale. It goes between 0% and 100%. It very rarely reaches 100%, and then only when the red line is already 1 (i.e. we are in recession!). It is a prediction.

I can;t be bothered to search for the original explanations of the graphs, but this much is at least obvious to anybody with an ounce of intelligence.

It has little to do with the 2nd Amendment.

There has been no more statutes past because they can't get through the Congress.

My father was a gun dealer and I grew up in a house full of guns and was shooting them from the age of 6. I go to gun shows all the time, and I feel completely comfortable with them. They are full of history, technology and so forth and make for a great hobby.

However I wonder a lot about people who want to carry them. I think everyone should have the legal right to carry openly or concealed, with or without any license. I think the right to self defense is the most fundamental anyone has.

But carrying a weapon all the time is just paranoid. Unless you're a jeweller or diamond seller or someone like that there just isn't the need to be armed all the time.

Frankly I think it's ridiculous when I see police detectives in the restaurants having lunch, and they're carrying openly when all they're doing is investigations and have no need at all to be armed.

Personally I don't even think patrol officers should always carry. I think they should leave their weapons in their cars until they are really needed.

I'm pretty sure police and conceal carry people are just guys who love the power they feel by carrying around a deadly weapon, and from my point of view that's really wimpish.

I think carrying is something wimps do.

Real men don't carry.
