Kim Phung (N.Lamar/ 183) has the MOST incredible Duck Soup in the universe. A little fattening but worth every bite. And a great hangover cure!

I'm really looking for the best seafood soup in town...Any other Asian soup votes? The Vegetable Beef at the Water Tank is excellent as well and beefy enough that men will like it too.

There's a new place on Pamer just East of 35, South side of the road, called Pho King ........ good soup, great name. I've been picking tomatoes and basil out of the garden and making quite a few cold soups ......... very refreshing in the heat.

i hear they get an "a" for their soups, so of course that leads to...pho king-a!

Give me a soup any day of the week.. HELL every day of the week. I am always looking for a new place to try. I found a mexican grocery on 7th and chicon that has good meat and vegetable soups every now and then. The soup at Dong Nai at the corner of S.lamar and Ben white has a great 2 person chicken soup, I took my mom there and got her hooked. Central market has some good soups grab a sandwhich and you have a great meal. All this talk of soups is making me salivate.

Peach, try out Manny Hattan's near Arboretum (next to Crate N Barrel).
They have Matzo Ball soup. It's ok. I can't recall Katz's Matzo Ball soup.
I only have homemade from my friend's to compare against (which is much better than the restaurants Austin has to offer).

Best soup is of course homemade - italian stracciatella soup - sometimes referred to as the Italian Wedding Soup. Actually my recipe is a combination of both. PM me for the recipe. It's a combination of chicken broth, spinach, locatelli cheese, meatballs (of course Italian style) and eggs. Some people have been known to call this soup the Italian egg drop soup.....LOL

My all time restaurant favorite is the Shrimp / Lemongrass / Basil soup at Chinatown South off 2244 in Westlake.

Yeah.. I tried Manny's Matzo Ball Soup and it just seemed bland.. I remember when I lived in Southern CA, Jerry's Deli, and Brent's Deli always has the BEST Matzo Ball Soup.. I wish Jason's sold Matzo Ball soup.. I was hoping they did when I went in the first time, hehe. Their Broccoli Cheddar Soup is very yummie though!

From Brent's

My mouth is watering now I have to cook up my own batch! haha!

I agree with you PeAch, there's no great matzo ball soup 'round these parts!

It's gone now but there used to be a restaurant called New York Deli in Round Rock. (It was attached to the gas station between Wendy's and the hotel at I35 and 620.) You'd never expect to find a great deli at a gas station in RR, especially 10 years ago. But they had awesome everything including the best matzo ball soup! There were 2 women who ran it and one day it was just gone. I often wish they were still around.
