headlines with ICE Barbie

A warning to fellow board members, the topic of this thread is not "Headlines with ICE Barbie." I made that mistake in post #9 and got 5 points.

We're discussing whether it's "appropriate for publications and news organizations to start their article with the words ICE Barbie." You might get by with addressing whether "name calling has gotten out of hand in the USA......thanks to Trump," but don't count on it.

It's perfectly appropriate for the press to call Kristi Noem the ICE Barbie. This is the United States of America. We have the First Amendment and people can publish whatever they want to.

The press attracts readers with sensational headlines. It's how they get more readers and sell more advertising. Rupert Murdoch, a staunch Republican and Trump supporter, does this in most of his publications.

Furthermore, it's not necessarily even a slam. Noem puts some effort into her appearance. As Jacuzzme says, she's very attractive for a woman her age, when she's made up. She may actually enjoy being called "Barbie." It's a lot better than "The Wicked Old Witch of ICE."
