It's almost as if Trump's doing his best to get the USA in a position so that China can fuck America. The Chinese trade surplus with the USA is only 1.5% of its GDP. Admittedly it would be somewhat higher if you counted Chinese materials and products shipped to places like Vietnam that are incorporated into goods exported to America. But the tariffs on China will be no sweat off of Xi's back.
On the other hand the USA is going to start paying more for steel, aluminum, pharmaceuticals, certain electronic components and machinery, batteries, you name it. We won't be able to keep up in an arms race with China, because they'll be able to build up their military so much more cheaply. Hell, if China continues to suspend exports of rare earth elements and magnets, we may not be able to manufacture modern missiles, planes, satellites, drones, vehicles, medical devices, and motors period.
If Donald, the very stable genius, had thought this through, he would have implemented measures to build up our infrastructure and supply chains and manufacturing capability so we'd have ready access to products important to our security without access to Chinese products. But he didn't. Or perhaps as reported by the WSJ he's trying to get that going now. Well, if that's the case, the cat's out of the bag. China's not going to look up someday and suddenly realize the USA has other sources for rare earth products and the like.

... As I already mentioned - China rang-up Trump yesterday
and said. "Let's talk..." - which is why Trump has proclaimed
that they are working on a trade deal.
.. No backing down there - at least from Trump.
Would be nice to see some o' you liberal lads and Trump haters
actually get something correct.... First the election - now this.

I don't hate Trump. I hate his tariffs. And his trying to steal an election, if that's what you're referring to Salty. Otherwise, I love him and Peter Navarro, just like I love all the rest of God's ch*****n. Which is what they're acting like right now. Too bad Trump doesn't listen more to the adults, like Scott Bessent and Mike Pence. If he did he would have been a pretty good president.

That is an incorrect statement.
Plus:
59% of Americans disapprove of Trump's job performance

^^can one of ya'll put up a link to a reputable news org like the WSJ or NYT to support your side? i'm interested in facts, not opinions.
i guess cause Salty said a significant event happened, maybe he should post some links. VitaM is saying basically nothing happend re: tariff comms/negotiations with China yesterday, which won't show up in any news articles.

Based on an "exclusive" story in today's Wall Street Journal, it sounds like Xi won't return Trump's call, or at least take him up on his invitation to talk:
As trade tensions have spiraled, Trump has indicated that he would like Xi to call him. Trump officials have also suggested to Chinese diplomats that Foreign Minister Wang Yi reach out to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to people familiar with the matter. So far, Beijing has refused to engage on either front.

Where did Trump get the idea he's holding all the cards? China's one of the USA's biggest creditors and sends us a lot more stuff than we send them. They hold the cards.

Rest of the world's leaders have called trumpfs bluff. Turned him into the world's cuck!
Trumpf no longer has any cards to play. Trumpf is in over his head as the world takes advantage!
Murikans are the victims of his buttfuckery!
His on again off again strategy on tariffs have wrecked the economy.

There's a difference between what's reported by the media
and what really happens, mates.
Where didja get "Trump colluded with Russia" from??
... So, give this some more time to play out.
That-way you won't look like fools with sad predictions.

at some point Salty, we have to stupulate whether we're talking about facts or "alternative facts" a.k.a. fantasy.
the W.S.J. skews right and the N.Y.T. skews left, but both ascribe to the highest journalistic standards. when either reports facts versus opinions, there is a strong (but potentially rebuttable) presumption that the facts are as alleged. to overcome such a presumption would require quite a bit of hard, external evidence from multiple reliable sources, not because "Trump said so"or "Fox News said so." both of those sources of information have been proven to be unreliable in courts of law where facts and evidence matters.

He provided a link from a credible source although I admit I only read the WSJ for the business and finance articles.
Where is your link to support your bullshit assertions? Ever heard the simple saying, "put up or shut up"?
