Default The price of pickled Carp should go way down

"What is the historical record on tariffs bringing fruit ?"

Historically, the US ran on "tariffs only" for many years, until the government decided to fleece Americans directly.

The new history is that it can again. So while the lefties carp on about it, the new history begins. FWIW: I don't really care much for Carp, except maybe the pickled stuff.

Let's look at the "discounted" tariffs of the new history.

Of course, many countries are highly likely to lower theirs. There is also the $6T likelihood that more will move manufacturing to the U.S.

I wonder if Mike Lindell will be offering a free MyPillow for each percentage point those countries reduce their tariffs on U.S. goods.

UAW supports tarriffs:
“We applaud the Trump administration for stepping up to end the free trade disaster that has devastated working class communities for decades. Ending the race to the bottom in the auto industry starts with fixing our broken trade deals, and the Trump administration has made history with today’s actions,” said UAW President Shawn Fain.

Here's my point:
Jobs are jobs. Inside the US is better as that's an economic flow for local communities where employees live.

Jobs are jobs. Inside the US is better as that's an economic flow for local communities where employees live.

Of course, employees assembling alternators at 45/hr is good for the local communities. Until they get laid off because nobody, including them, can afford to buy that 200k F-150 (base model) and they get laid off and the factory shuts down due to lack of demand.

Realistically though, the problem is much bigger. With AI and the advances in robotics, by the time those factories are built (or re-tooled assuming they are sitting empty) it won't be to employ thousands of humans. Even engineering level jobs are going to be obsolete by the time any of this happens.

This country existed for nearly 120 years on tariffs and duties. It took a racist democrat to sign an income tax into law.

... Looks to me that the likes of Ford and GM and their workers
surely favour the new tariffs. ...

Not a word for several hours about the tariffs from the left. Must be hiding under their rocks.

No. But the majority of their workers probably did.

Ford has already reduced prices across the board, i.e. employee pricing for everybody.

Please clarify. Are those unemployment number or lottery numbers? What do they have to do with tariffs and where to they come from?

Of course they would. They think their salaries will increase. The reality is......how many of them will lose their jobs because their cars are too expensive and don't sell ?

Most people are sleeping at 1:18 am. Were you hoping for a lot of replies ?

Stock market down another 1,400 points today.

Trump: "If Biden is re elected, the stock market will crash." Guess he got the crash part correct.
