When my hand is on my heart it doesn't extend that high when I move it to the side and with palm out, same height as my heart.

Methinks you're onto something. Muscle memory, perhaps. It would be perceived as natural to someone with a lot of reps at that angle.

But since he's a spastic meatball it got kinda jerky when he tried to add some extra mustard. Arm definitely went up, though, and he seemed comfortable with the final placement. Like it's been there for 100k reps.
