Hillary Clinton beat Trump in Virginia then Biden took it again in 2020. Now they have young Republican (in terms of running for President lol) Governor who has shown an ability to work with Democrats and seems to have a focus for getting things done.

With Trump in a legal shitstorm and DeSantis talking about political objectives as if he was writing a John Wick script could we see a moderate slip in and unseat Biden?
Youngkin would be better than any of the announced Republican candidates. He'd win the general election. But 2024 won't be his year. Right now it's looking like Trump will be the Republican candidate. He'll lose, and drag other Republican candidates down with him.

Perhaps there will be parallels with 1980. Recall that Carter handily beat Gerald Ford in 1976, who was handicapped by Nixon's ignominy. That ushered in four years of Democratic Party control of the presidency, House and Senate. In 1980, Republicans rose up from the ashes. Ronald Reagan won the presidency and Republicans won the Senate.

Ronald Reagan, the greatest president of our lifetimes IMHO, served two terms as governor of California. In 2028, Youngkin may have two terms under his belt as governor of Virginia, a blue state. He'll be a more seasoned politician and state executive. And maybe he'll run for president.

Odds are whatever happens with this election the winner will be ineligible to run in 2028 so for Youngkin his best move is probably staying put. His good works in VA will help get his name out there and give him some momentum come next election cycle.

We are a couple weeks away from the first debate and Trump may decide to skip it and let the smaller fish get their nibbles in while he takes notes. I see the odds around 60/40 against Trump being in the race come nomination time and I am not convinced DeSantis holds his support once they debate on a national stage. We need a backup plan or the reality of 3.5 years of Kalama in the Oval Office is a nightmare of high probability

Default Beware: The Pusher Man

The Demonicrats, and to some degree the RINOS, are still pushing for a Newsom vs Desantis contest. They are even pushing for a debate between the two already. Problem is: Nobody cares.
