I used to be but you have not needed me for a long time. However, you can always recall me from the reserves anytime.

I was thinking about rebranding. How about the Unsullied?

Once the activity in this thread dies off, though, this is going to slide down the forum and get lost. If it's a useful and desired resource (and it seems to be) y'all should inquire about having it pinned to the top of the forum.

Cheers,

bcg

Default The Crescent Hotel

The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs is fun to visit. It bills itself as "America's Most Haunted Hotel" and there is a definite "creepy" factor there, especially if you take the ghost tour. Even if ghosts are of no interest to you, it is cool to stay in the historic, ornate building, and the New Moon Spa downstairs has some great massages and other options.

Note: The Basin Hotel also bills itself as haunted, and offers ghost tours. I have done both and both the accomodations and the ghost tour are far superior at the Crescent. The rooms at the Basin are pretty cramped, also, but one thing the Basin does have going for it is that it's right in the middle of everything in Eureka Springs. You could easily check in there and walk everywhere you want to go on a Eureka Springs trip. Still, I prefer the Crescent.

There's lots stuff on YouTube about the Crescent Hotal

I've posted about some things in and near Eureka Springs, but not Eureka Springs itself. It is a quaint community with a lot of eclectic shops and things to do. It's only about an hour's drive from Fayetteville, and is also on the way to Branson, Missouri (or can be, depending on route taken) making it a nice stop on a Branson trip.

Default Beaver Dam Park

Check out Beaver Dam Park for all kinds of outdoor activities - fishing, swimming, hiking, etc. It's really close to Eureka Springs and only about an hour's drive from Fayetteville (just like Eureka Springs)

https://www.recreation.gov/camping/d...O&parkId=71934

Overview

Dam Site Lake Campground sits along the vast shores of Beaver Lake in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, offering spacious and sunny campsites and an abundance of recreational activities.Natural Features:

Towering limestone bluffs, natural caves and a variety of trees and flowering shrubs surround Dam Site Lake Campground, making it an ideal retreat for outdoor enthusiasts.

Beaver Lake and Dam, completed in 1966, was constructed in the White River Basin and boasts 449 miles of beautiful shoreline at the top of the conservation pool.

Although the dam was originally built for flood control, hydroelectric power and public water supply, it has also created a popular recreational oasis for the area.
Recreation:

Fishing opportunities are plentiful near Dam Site Lake Campground. Beaver Lake has more than 28,000 surface acres of water, and anglers can try their luck at catching large and small-mouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers, and channel or spoon-bill catfish. Just below the dam, the cold waters of the upper White River provide a perfect habitat for pole-bending rainbow and record-sized German brown trout.

Several trails snake throughout the Ozark Mountains, offering peaceful hiking, biking and wildlife viewing opportunities for visitors.

Hunters will find game plentiful in northwest Arkansas. A mixture of hardwood and evergreen forest provides a good home to many different species of wildlife. While Beaver Lake is conveniently located near several population centers, within a short driving distance, hunters can find remote areas filled with upland game animals such as deer, rabbits and squirrels.

Many other sports and activities await campers, including boating, swimming, picnicking, scuba diving, water skiing, spelunking and sightseeing.
Facilities:

Dam Site Lake Campground has large campsites with plenty of shade and room for activities, and is steps away from the lake shore. Fire rings, picnic areas, drinking water and flush toilets all make for a comfortable camping getaway.
Nearby Attractions:

Several marinas are located around the lake, offering groceries, fuel, boat rentals and storage, fishing guides and camping supplies. Click here for more information.

Default Devil's Den State Park

Devil's Den State Park is another great spot for outdoor activities, and is even closer to Fayetteville than Beaver Dam, in West Fork

White Rock Mountain has some of the most beautiful views in Arkansas and not too many people really know about it.

Canoeing or kayaking the Mulberry River at least once is something that shouldn't be missed either. Not for the faint of heart when the river is right.

For another blast from the past (like the 112 Drive In), check out Arkadia Retrocade, a fully functional video arcade, located in Fayetteville's Evelyn Hills shopping center.

They don't seem to have a web site but here is their Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/ArkadiaRetrocade/

Looks like $5 gets you in to play all the games as long as you like.

Lake Fayetteville is conveniently located in North Fayetteville, and offers boating, biking, hiking, and fishing, with boat and fishing equipment rentals available.
