Id be very very careful about splitting hairs with an employer about misdemeanors and felonies, arrests and convictions as most aren't going to make any distinction about you got in to trouble and what the disposition was. I tend to think they see you as a risk no matter what. Rule #2 is never lie about it.

But I've seen a background check consist of a check of the sex offender registry so it can be pretty painless.

But another aspect I'll attest to is that I was court-martialed and did 52 days in jail. Still have an honorable discharge though. It's not hampered me one single iota, even working for the Fed Gov and being cleared to work with weapons. Not one mention of anything from them. They asked on initial hiring, I said I had a Special CM conviction for failure to obey a lawful order.

Done. Never heard a peep from anyone about it. I dont want to mention it and this is likely one of the only times I've even mentioned it other than to comfort someone else living in fear of what their going through. But if I had to undergo an SF86 for a TS, I'd be very worried, not of the case itself, but that people would "find out", as it were.

Ask your attorney. he/she should be able to answer your question and end all speculation. Generally a misdemeanor won't show up, but the exceptions are to numerous to consider here.
