The realization that, "this is all there is," can be tough on some, especially if the monetary rewards aren't good enough to pay off a but load of student debt and live a good life.
That's what happens when someone needs to be challenged in life but isn't.

I can't imagine the stress the dentist feels. The hassles of insurance, having to dig around in nasty mouths, the expenses of maintaining an office and keeping it staffed. It's a hard profession.
I went to school to be a dental assistant. It was during my 3 month externship and after taking a $17k student loan that I realized, this is some boring shit and it doesn't pay much. I couldn't do that type if work day in and day out.
