It seems that some Americans feel as though being an American Citizen entitles
them to enjoy the same freedoms and rights that we enjoy in The USA while they are in a Foriegn Land.
Turkey has been quite secular in the past decades. But with the election of Precep Erdagon, and then granting him extended executive powers, the political climate has taken a hard turn toward a theocratic style of government.
Or at least it seems that way. The truth is, Erdagon seems to have read the "governing made easy" guide by Joe Stalin. "If you are not with me, then surely you are against me". Everybody knows what that meant. The Gulag, or The Wall.
Erdagon seems to have wide support in the Turkish Electorate. To the vast majority of Turkish Citizens, it's really life as usual, maybe even a little better. But to anyone who disagrees with the majority view, or has a different moral compass than that majority, life could be very difficult.
In the USA, we have a Constitution that is our Supreme Law. We have a Bill of Rights that protect citizens from an over reaching Government. But those Rights stop at our Border.
I am an avid shooter. I enjoy going to the Range. On any given week end, I will have several rifles and pistols in my car. But, I am not so stupid as to head down Hyway 59 and cross into Mexico with those rifles and pistols in my car.
It's no different if I were Gay, or Trans Sexual, or any other definition that varies from the conventional Heterosexual Lifestyle. Here, in the confines of The USA, I can protest for the right to stick my dick into just about anything that is of legal age and consenting. But, I would not be so stupid as to go to Turkey and do it.
