He gave the go-ahead in January 2016 and it has taken this long to finally dropping it. The plans were in the works long before Trump took office and one more thing. The cave it targeted was built by the CIA for the fighters to use against the Russians
And Kim Jong-un's nuclear missile technology was courtesy of Jimmy the Peanut and Slick Willie:
Quote:
You can thank Jimmy "the Peanut" Carter and Slick Willie for North Korea’s nukes
Back in 1994, President Clinton prepared to confront North Korea over CIA reports it had built nuclear warheads and its subsequent threats to engulf Japan and South Korea in “a sea of fire.”
Enter self-appointed peacemaker Carter: The ex-prez scurried off to Pyongyang and negotiated a sellout deal that gave North Korea two new reactors and $5 billion in aid in return for a promise to quit seeking nukes.
Clinton embraced this appeasement as achieving “an end to the threat of nuclear proliferation on the Korean Peninsula” — with compliance verified by international inspectors. Carter wound up winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his dubious efforts.
But in 2002, the North Koreans ’fessed up: They’d begun violating the accord on Day One. Four years later, Pyongyang detonated its first nuke.
Didn't Bush II drop a MOAB on Afghanistan during his time in office? I remember that same thing, cargo deployed but it was more round in shape. Didn't weigh as much but still 10k+ pounds and air blast type?
A large group of ISIS fighters in Iraq are moving down a road, when they hear the voice of an American from behind a sand dune- “Hey you bastards! One Marine is better than ten wimpy ISIS fighters!”
The ISIS commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over to the sand dune, where a gun battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes. After a minute of silence, the voice calls out again- “One Marine is better than one hundred of you ISIS scumbags!”
Furious, the ISIS commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and a huge gun fight breaks out. After 10 minutes of battle, there is again silence, until the voice calls out again,“One Marine is better than a thousand ISIS fighters.”
The enraged ISIS commander musters 1,000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the dune. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible fight is fought … then silence.
Eventually, one badly wounded ISIS fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander, “Don’t send any more men … it’s a trap. There’s not just one marine over there….there’s two.”
The U.S. Air Force dropped several BLU-82s during the campaign to destroy Taliban and al-Qaeda bases in Afghanistan to attack and demoralize personnel and to destroy underground and cave complexes.[8] American forces began using the bomb in November 2001[11] and again a month later during the Battle of Tora Bora.

Those were Bunker busters- the MOAB was around and could have been deployed, but they used a much smaller version of the MOAB called a Bunker Buster. Bunker Busters are designed to destroy obviously Bunkers and Caves- they leave huge holes in the ground.

At the time it was deployed the Daisy Cutter was called the Mother of all bombs also.
The question no one has asked- was if this bomb was needed? How many ISIS fighters do you really think are in Afghanistan? Surely, not the same number as in Iraq or Syria. I wouldn't be surprised if no more than 100 ISIS fighters were killed-if that- simply overkill just like the 59 Tomahawk missiles that were launched and the Syrian Airbase was operational in 48 hours.
