A very accurate assessment of the current GOP field. And, I actually agree with Longermonger - the GOP field is very weak!

Of course, so it the Democrat field....seriously, without worrying about scoring partisan points, sit down and try to figure out what's so 'good' about the current administration. I have no idea why anybody thinks its a good thing that we don't seem to have anybody better in the que.

I agree with COG - the RNC (for reasons I will never understand) gives undo importance to New England in the primary season. So hello Mitt. He makes a good candidate for the casual and uninformed voter, since he looks presidential, has name recognition, and has the ability to speak for several minutes without actually saying anything (not as good as the incumbent, but close), and has a political 'pedigree'. Unfortunately, most conservatives do not like him any more than they like McCain...and we all know how that turned out.

How will a GOP candidate rise to the top? How can the GOP use Palin's popularity, but avoid her negatives? Don't have her run - have her endorse! I think she will go this route; and, I think it will be somebody who isn't in the running right now. .

I'm curious as to how Ron Paul should be viewed as a nutjob. I know the media uses a certain jingo against him, such as quixotic, in order to marginalize him, but in every speech he has given, he seemed to make sense to me. Sure, he has a squeaky voice and looks like a beardless Gandalf, but as far as I'm concerned, he makes intellectual arguments as opposed to the emotional appeals so common in politics.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the status quo, and the current leadership of both parties that are leading us over a cliff that are the nutjobs. I'd go so far as to say that I honestly believe that most of our political leaders are narcissistic megalomaniacs at best, and outright sociopaths at worst.

if gas is at 4 or 5 bucks and unemployment is aroud 9 to 10 percent obama wont win the nomination let alone the presidency.

Unemployment is already above 10%. The numbers are manipulated so that certain people aren't counted as being unemployed. I won't be surprised if we see $5 per gallon gas in the near future either.

Longer, you're criticizing ABC. That is not my list so take it up with them. Let me remind you of something; 1990-who the hell is this Clinton guy?, 2006-Barack who? These two guys were known for giving a speech in front of democrats and for thriving in corrupt local politics.

That would seem to give some powerful conservatives a good reason to CAUSE those numbers to be that high. Don't you think?

This is the President that appointed a Secretary of the Interior that famously said he didn't mind if gas hit $10 a gallon.

I'm not going to pretend to be super smart when it comes to politics, but Deacon, Obama did inherit some of the problems, he didn't create them. Every POTUS inherit problems.

I need a tutor for politics.

I'm not saying blame Bush for everything. Please don't put words into my mouth. You have to admit that every president does inherit problems from the previous one. When Reagan came into office, did he have a problem free presidency? From what I've read, no. I'm sure that Reagan had a few choice words for Carter after he took office, the people just may not have heard about it.

Of course people are going to stay loyal to the parties and blame the other guy, its an old story that needs to change. People need to hold their government officials responsible no matter what party they belong to.

This is a different era and the internet makes it easier for people to voice their opinions.
