Look at the top right where your name is; click the littler arrow and a drop down menu will appear. You can access your PMs through there but you still also get a notification under your name when you have unopened PMs.

A little more crisp, so that's appreciated. The default font could be a few shades darker though. Maybe going to vbulletin 5 would help some under the hood code.
