I actually believe you are safer in UBER than a typical taxi. On UBER, you catch a ride via an app, so there is a connection between you & the driver -- plus the route is recorded by default -- meaning the driver, pickup location, intended destination, etc. are all recorded and tracked in the app.

In a typical taxi, there is no evidence trail to locate you.

I've taken UBER in other areas and felt very safe.

Wonder what the legalities are if you are riding with an Uber driver and they get into a car accident? Are your injuries covered by their insurance?

I've been using Uber for a few years now. Works great but you should know a few things:

Rates fluctuate with demand. Call me on NYE and you'll be looking at $100 fare. Most nights it'll be the same as a cab.
Drivers are typically really good and using their own car. They aren't as regulated as cabs though so have a general idea of where you are going and how to get there.
In larger markets it works great as there is almost always a driver nearby who is on duty. Smaller markets get dicey the later it gets.

Download the app and check it out. Put your card in once and never need pay the driver. I still usually give them a $5 tip.

I wonder if my Uber driver will be hot, sexy and in love with DATY that he just has to take me right then and there, and my submissive side takes over and I gladly open "myself" to his waiting tongue...or he might just be some old fat guy with no real interest in women because we aren't comic books...
