According to the CDC report on Herpes issued 3/2010, about 58% of the adult population in North America have HSV 1, and 16% have HSV 2. It also states that 21% of women in North America have HSV 2. That's basically one in five women with HSV 2. To me it seems likely that the HSV 2 % is higher in the hobby, so all of us have probably been exposed to HSV 1 and many of us have come in contact with HSV 2.

Obviously no one would engage in any activity with anyone having symptoms, but both types of HSV can be transmitted with no symptoms. With these statistics for the general population, (and probably higher #'s for the hobby) it seems likely that the results of this poll are moot. Most of us have been exposed to HSV 1 or 2 or both. We may not have been infected, but we've been exposed.
These risks come with the game.

Thank-you for the data....

Yes there is risk

The question here is how much risk will one take?

If you KNOW or BELIEVE that a Provider is HSV1/HSV2 positive will you spend the money and assume the risk vs simply making another choice?
