Theoretically it's possible and the risk increases if the person performing oral sex has bleeding gums or open mouth sores. There are somewhere between 28 and 40 documented occurrences of males who contracted the virus and the only reported sexual contact was receiving oral sex. This statistic does not differentiate receptive from giving.

A medical paper published in 2002 documented over 19000 unprotected oral sex encounters where 1 partner was infected with HIV and not a single person contracted the virus.

Authors
del Romero J, Marincovich B, Castilla J, García S, Campo J, Hernando V, Rodríguez C.
Journal
AIDS. 2002 Jun 14;16(9):1296-7.

The CDC issues safe sex guidelines and takes the stance that there is risk associated with unprotected oral sex but at what risk is unknown. The CDC does not present any real medical research or studies that back up the risk warnings about un protected oral sex.

The university of California at San Francisco states the following as the risk of contracting HIV from oral sex:

Quote:
There are a few known cases of people getting HIV from giving oral sex (licking or sucking). There are no known cases of someone getting HIV from receiving oral sex (being licked or sucked). Experts believe that oral sex without protection is less risky than other kinds of sex, but all agree that it is possible to get HIV from giving oral sex to an HIV-infected partner without protection, especially if the HIV-infected partner ejaculates in the mouth. Certain factors, such as the presence of any cuts or sores in the mouth, are thought to increase the riskiness of oral sex.

On March 14, 2003 HIV InSite convened a panel of San Francisco experts to discuss the data on risk of HIV infection associated with receptive oral sex.

Laurence Peiperl, MD (convener)
Director, UCSF Center for HIV Information

Tom Coates, PhD (moderator)
Director, UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies

Participants: Susan P. Buchbinder, MD; Frederick M. Hecht, MD; Jeffrey D. Klausner, MD, MPH; Dennis Osmond, PhD; Kimberly Page Shafer, PhD, MPH; Eric Vittinghoff, PhD

It was concluded that you have a 1 percent chance of infection if you receive oral sex from an HIV positive person.

Perhaps you might reread the question you wrote and the answer I gave before making such pronouncements. Did you not do reading and writing at ECU?

By the way i used Urban dictionary to help me understand what the heck all these acronyms stand for...LOL
Purple, you can really reduce your risks by waiting about 45 minutes to an hour after you brush your teeth, floss or any other activity that could aggravate your oral membranes..

You should definitely lay off blowing your friends if you have any open sores in your mouth. If you're really worried about it, you can further reduce your chances by following the old adage "Spit or Swallow, Don’t Let it Wallow." So don't gargle it, just swallow it, get it down and move on to the next fella in your little circle of love.

Purple. I am glad you are doing your research before you go out and infect any men.
I do not meet your target demographics but I am sure they appreciate it.

Good luck in your hunt but I think you could have better luck on a different board.

Ps. You should try to get to know Whispers.
However, please be careful as you both are equally orally irritating, and we all know what oral irritation can lead to.

Play safe.

Yes he can. Anyone with any sense knows, if a person infected with HIV has a cut or open wound in their mouth or on their lip they can infect another person by doing oral sex

My fellow Americans,

Oral sex involves giving or receiving oral stimulation (i.e., sucking or licking) to the penis (fellatio), the vagina (cunnilingus), or the anus (anilingus). HIV can be transmitted during any of these activities, but the risk is much less than that from anal or vaginal sex. Receiving fellatio, giving or receiving cunnilingus, and giving or receiving anilingus carry little to no risk. The highest oral sex risk is to individuals performing fellatio on an HIV-infected man, with ejaculation.

So for all the BBBJ CIM providers, I would take note. Ie; NOVATX.

Just helping you out.

I heard that your chances of getting HIV from oral sex are like greatly increased if you are wearing black thigh-high dress socks while receiving it.

So what your telling me purpleheadrecepient... woops I mean purpleheartrecepient, my bad, is that I can still get BBBJ I can still do DATY (one of my favorite activities) and as long as I cover up and I don't start blowing guys (which I won't) I am at little risk to catch HIV good to know!!!

Hey guys give the guy a break he is just another one of the "Hobby Saviors" trying to "save" us all from the evil that is out there in Hobbyland. It's not like we could have looked up any of this information on our own. It's not like we haven't been hearing the same info for how long is it now probably since what the mid 90s . I'll probably show my age here but I think I started hearing this info back in Middle school. Hey maybe you should join Whispers he likes to be a self proclaimed "Hobby Savior" as well. Hey maybe Ya'll two can car pool to the next "Hobby Savior" meeting. Let me know how it goes, I will be busy that night getting a BBBJ and performing from what I hear is pretty good DATY I'll probably fuck her too but don't worry I will make sure I am covered up first.

Don't you just love "Hobby Saviors"
