Trump threw the Republicans under the bus.

Representative Peter King called out President Donald Trump Wednesday for reversing course on direct payments to Americans after Congress finally reached a long-awaited deal on an economic relief package.

Calling into radio's Joe Piscopo Show, the New York Republican said he agreed with those who think the $600 stimulus checks approved by lawmakers Monday aren't enough but criticized the president for threatening to not sign the legislation.

"Why didn't the president say this before? Why did his administration say it had to be $600?" King asked. "They were the ones driving this."

The retiring congressman added: "Nancy Pelosi wanted $2,000 all along, and I'm not a Pelosi fan. Bernie Sanders wanted $2,000. The president and his administration refused to give it, and now he's trying to somehow double back. He's leaving Republicans out there hanging out to dry after signing off on an agreement and asking us to vote for it."

"You think all of the Republican senators wouldn't have voted for it if the Trump administration didn't tell us to?" King asked. "So I'm really disappointed in the president."

King said that it was the Trump administration that "led the negotiations" and that they knew about the compromise bill "from beginning to end."

Representative Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) criticized Treasury Secretary Mnuchin for his role in the negotiations after Trump came out in opposition to the bill. According to The New York Times, Mnuchin had 190 calls about the package between December 14 and 20 that included the president.

"Were you just making stuff up during the Covid relief negotiations? If you weren't speaking for @realDonaldTrump, then who were you speaking for?" Lieu tweeted, addressing Mnuchin.

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont responded to Trump's proposal with the tweet: "That's great! I first introduced a bill to provide a $2,000 direct payment with @SenKamalaHarris & @EdMarkey 7 months ago. Now, Mr. President, get Mitch McConnell and your Republican friends to stop opposing it and we can provide working class Americans with $2,000. Let's do it."

But his threat today that he'll veto the stimulus bill unless the government pays $2,000 to everyone regardless of employment status or need reeks of DPST* socialism. It was painful watching Rand Paul and Marsha Blackburn on Fox this morning trying to defend Trump. They rightly pointed out that Congress shouldn't be passing bills with lots of pork for things like museums when many Americans are on their knees. But they insisted on dancing around the real reason that Trump's threatening a veto. It's because he's a Democrat. He's working with the same playbook as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. The $2000 was originally their idea.

Then there's the defense bill, that Trump actually vetoed today, because it didn't include a provision to repeal a law that shields internet companies from liability for what's posted on their websites by third parties. That's a big make-work handout to the trial lawyers. And who's the great friend of the plaintiffs lawyers? The Democratic Party of course. And Donald Trump's a good friend too. Before he became president he loved to sue people.

Finally there are other considerations from the past. The massive campaign contributions to Democratic Party politicians. Trump's support of a wealth tax and partial birth abortion. His membership in the Democratic Party. And more recently, proposing to increase the top marginal federal tax rate on Americans to 47.8% as a part of his 2017 tax bill.

I don't understand why most of the esteemed left-of-center posters here hate Trump. Donald Trump is a great friend to the Democratic Party, and his latest antics appear to be a ploy to lose the Georgia Senate elections and turn all the levers of the federal government over to Biden, Schumer and Pelosi.

Let's not have Conservatives and Center of Opinion folks degenerate to the level of the DPST's!

So the congress is wrong for all the pork but they don't get condemned. However, Trump is giving citizens their own money back and that's bad?

They should probably still win but look what Trump is doing....He is siphoning off money that should be headed for their reelection for his future use.

Now these veto's.

Now these so called conservatives Republican's are calling for more government bailout.

So my conservatives friends on here do not want mask mandates but because of the lack of mask wearing ...want monetary bailouts because they were too stupid to wear masks.

I swear , I need to move to a smarter country.

No need to read all, what is it 5,000, 6,000 pages of the bill? "10 million for gender programs in Pakistan" tells you all you need to know. This is disgraceful and I applaud anybody with the courage to stand up and say so.

And if that didn't piss you off enough.

$453 million in aid to Ukraine
$130 million in aid to Nepal
$700 million in aid to Sudan
$30 million annually for creating the U.S. India Gandi-King Development Foundation.
$40 million for the Kennedy Center

$500 million in aid to Israel note: while a big supporter of aid to Israel since we get a shit load of that

money back when they buy American, it should have been suspended this time along with all
foreign aid and money for ANYTHING other than compensating Americans who lost their jobs do

to actions of the government.

And what possible sense does it make to give people who never lost their job $600 along with the $1200 they gave me and people like me who didn't lose a job and has a constant, uninterpreted income? To much trouble to dig in and find out who really needs the money and who doesn't? Shameful, despicable and disgusting.

Fuck these politicians on both sides of the isle. I hope they all burn! Merry fucking Xmas!

$10 million for Gender Programs in Pakistan tells me all I need to know about these people. None of them with the exception of Paul and a few others give a damn about anything other than keeping their jobs and if they flush us all down the drain, I guess it's better than standing up and doing the right thing for the American people. This is madness!

Is what you’re saying that Trump is a deep state Democratic operative, deflecting the REAL AMERICANS.attention away from reality while they deviously plot to take over the world?

So Trump sucked Putin’s beetroot to confuse and test the faithful at the bidding of his Democrat masters.

This is all coming into focus.

It MAY BE CHINAHHH!
