Well, if the OP is true...big if... then he doesn't understand the problem. The problem is people. There are not enough people to move the cargo 24/7 at a high rate. There are not enough truckers to drive the loads away. The fact that the union has set us up to fail just aggravates the situation; no one by union people can move cargo off a ship, no one but union people can truck cargo out of a shipyard (even if they drop off the trailers at a third party site for non-union truckers to take the load), no union people can be made to work extra hours if necessary. So let's add a few (penalty) to the cost of doing business. That will only be added to the price of the contents for the consumer to pay in the end. The company suffers not a whit.

It is nonsense - kalifornia law (AB5) and union resistance to modernization and refusal to work are a major part of teh Port issues. The Feds - per teh constitution - control Interstate Commerce - and should take control of teh port and force modernization and efficiency.
