I saw. It today and it was a let down. It wa boring and dreary and didn't have the flash or panache of other gangster films like casino , goodfellas , or American gangster. It's just lurches on. Johnny Depp was good, but the film overall was just a bore. I also saw EVEREST IN IMAX 3D . Now that was good. Sad movie , it's about the tragic climb up Everest in 1996, but it's shot really well and very entertaining, and when it hits , it hits hard. I wasn't checking my phone like I was in Black Mass.

Fun fact Whitney Bulger was the inspiration for Frank Costello in the departed. 38Super - the film is directed by Scott Cooper who did The Houston shot Crazy Heart (did not see) and out of the furnace with Christian Bale and woody Harrelson - excellent film. The pint I was going to make is that he directs dark and dreary films, that have a slow burn. And gay applied to a gangster film just didn't seem to mix - to me at least - but check it out and let me know what you think.

Slow burn for sure. I thought it was a brutal story and a pretty good movie. No regrets on dropping the time or the dime to see it. My respect for Depp has grown.

Im excited about Sicario -

I heard it's good but also slow at times. it's from the director of Prisoners - Which is an excellent film but dry at times.
