Seriously... at the time I thought Sex, Lies, and Videotape was the sexiest thing I've ever seen. Seeing Andi McDowell repulsed by and then submitting to Spader was very entertaining.

This is some what obscure but worth looking for, The Image, a 1975 French film known as The Punishment of Anne in the US.

A second more earthy review

I enjoyed this film a great deal because despite what was written about it, wasn't expecting much. What a delightful surprise, just when the viewer is ready to write the whole thing off, the film maker unwraps some very serious erotica. You start to completely forget about the 70's kitsch and get lost in the moment.

It slots somewhere between the unedited version of Histoire d'O (The Story of O in French with English subtitles and a few added minutes) and more self aware version of The Secretary.

Make it to the 3 minute mark of this clip and you'll see what I mean.

Would also add Cat People, Blue Velvet and Caligula.
