That’s what I thought. Back in the mid 70’s you really needed to be a good blocker. Pass catching was secondary. But I played for Bobby Bowden for two years. He used the TE in the passing game. Learned a lot about running routes. But he got ran out of town. The rest was history. George Kiitles is the best TE in the NFL. A beast as a blocker and a very good receiver. Most of them are just glorified receivers. Mike Ditka revolutionized the position in the NFL. One of my sports idols. A Pittsburgh guy.

Not quite sure what trans athletes had to do with the opening ceremonies but the 1800 drones working like synchronized swimmers was mind blowing. To my knowledge, that was the first time in history that particular feat has ever been done.
Swarming, weapons loaded, drones. Now there's a scary thought for our military planners.

It doesn't, that's why it's in a separate paragraph

Swarming, weapons loaded, drones. Now there's a scary thought for our military planners. They've already planned for it. If you look at many of the outside events, the dignitaries stand behind a wall of plexiglass. The secret service also has their own drones in the air.

The boring opening ceremony I'm talking about lasted about 20 minutes. People on a treadmill and bike. All against a white backdrop. Can't even find it on youtube. When the athletes came out, I stopped watching. I was insufferable.

Woman's soccer team came back strong in the 2nd game. The men's basketball team is definitely not as strong as in past years.Maybe they too got a wake-up call in the loss to France.
What's the big deal? If you don't want to watch the competition, don't. I will be watching every night, focusing on swimming and T&F. Also women's gymnastics. Simone Biles amazes me, even though she is off her game thus far in the Olympics.
These are incredible athletes. Anyone who has competed in sports knows how superior these men and women are in their individual sport. I was a decent runner in my prime and ran low 50s in the 400m. Compared to the Olympic level runners, I sucked.

We know. The whole Olympics experience has gone from Capitalism v Communism to a diversity message. I'm surprised they even keep a medal count by country.
And the inclusion message is laughable. Like you said, the athletes are incredible. But if you look at the commercials they have an "everybody con do this." Missing a leg? No problem! Many other messages that detract from the eliteness of the athletes.
Finally, I'd like to suggest if the athletes don't want to represent their country, they don't need to be there.

Calling those teams "US teams" is a bit of a stretch, Yes they have American citizenship, and yes they are wearing US uniforms, but I'd hardly call many of them "Americans" They aren't out there representing their country, they are only representing themselves and even doing that BADLY. At least I can spend the rest of the Olympics doing something more productive like maybe rearranging my sock drawer. lol
And Yes, I am ashamed. Ashamed that America has fallen so low due to the ungratefulness of these "lowlifes"

I’m tempted to watch just to see if they have fewer teeth than hockey players. Seems like a sport where it’d be easy to lose a few.
