Solid list but this Italian squad ain't gonna do it, even with super Mario ahead, and that solid defence...imho.
My final four are:
Brasil
Germany
Argentina
Spain
Although, I've been way off in the past...LOL, but I'm rooting for a Spain vs Uruguay clash in the quarterfinals, just to see them play each other. And Brasil vs Columbia also in the quarterfinals, if everything goes as expected.
Brasil is well coached, better defence than they had in previous years, are at home, and may have the weapons to do it. I guess we'll see.

USA is in a "group of death" no way they best both Germany and Potugal both of which are one of the top teams in the world. I see Brazil in the final 4 but they have chocked in last few big events

USA all the way even if they don't make it I'm still watching. Brazil is always a team to watch as the host country and talent as usual. Exciting nonetheless

Have any of you filled out your bracket:
http://bracket.mlssoccer.com/
Next, I have Brazil over Spain in the 3rd place game and Germany defeating Argentina to take the cup.

And now, my predictions for the awards:
Golden Boot: David Villa (Spain/New York City FC
on loan to Melbourne City)
Golden Ball: Mesut Ozil (Germany/Arsenal)
Golden Glove: Manuel Neuer (Germany/Bayern Munich)

Alright. Soccer talk. Great!!!
I think Spain wins it again. Best combination of soccer skill and young talent.
For the USA team, I have faith in Klinsmann, but I don't get how Altidore made the team ahead of Donovan when Altidore sucked at Sunderland.
I know USA is in "Group of Death" but I think they can beat Ghana and possibly tie with Portugal and Germany, or beat one of these teams and tie with the other, to make it to the next stage. Maybe I'm dreaming but I think USA is better than most people think. And I think Klinsmann is the coach to get them to play at top level.

Germany just lost their stud player. We may gave a chance.

But I still think they have enough depth of talent to clear group...imho.
Nate Silver makes a pretty compelling case for the host here (a bit diffuse, but worth the read) and here. But the game is played on the pitch not by algorithm. I'd be overjoyed if it plays out this way though!
