If you are caught and some how manage to beat the charges with a good lawyer you're going to be out a hefty chunk of change. I'm not sure if the risks are worth it for me anymore after Sep 1st especially at an AMP or a new girl in Dallas that can easily be a honey pot. Maybe and I stress maybe a studio and one that currently exists that I know is legit and not a setup. We're all just going to need to be much more careful going forward and post here if the police are running a sting immediately.

The cops aren't going to have any more man power to go after mongers than they do today... which is minimal. You probably only need to be concerned about raids not working with indies...
There is very little risk if you're sensible... sure everything could go tits up on you one day, but that's true today too.. the risk of being caught hasn't changed just the penalty.

This a world of difference between a misdemeanor and a felony. The risk of getting caught is low if you're sensible like SJ has always said, but sometimes you slip up. The penalty before was manageable, you could make it go away. Felony is a whole different story.

I can see where this is going to go and it will hurt the people it's purported to protect. To protect themselves, buyers of sex must demand that no money change hands at the point of service, putting power back into the hands of pimps. Are people ever going to realize that catching the people who do business abusively are easier to find when the business itself is practiced openly?

They just want it to appear like they’re addressing the problem. They don’t care if they actually do.

Police dont care unless they get paid.
Police departments get federal grants for number of arrests made. The anti,-trafficking groups are going to pressure Texas police departments to make arrests, and lobby the feds to withhold money if the police dont deliver
And police depts. will now be able to confiscate your car if you drive to an apointment.
A cop who arrests 10 men for felony solicitation has a ton of paperwork to do, and he will get lots of overtime to fill it all.out and he/she gets paid to appear in court for all the arrests. They make a lot of extra money.
The anti trafficking lobby cares. Police care only about the money they get paid.

Sex now like buying liquor in some places
Will be interesting to see if alot of places move north of the border to open shop. Will we have to go to Oklahoma or Louisiana like we do now for Gambling?? Or to a wet county from a dry county to buy booze. Or another state for pot?? Not sure what the laws are in other states, or is Texas the first, or at least maybe behind California in this??

Texas is the first state to do this. It's making headlines for it.

Winstar Casino and Choctaw Casino will be some of the places. I drove past Choctaw Casino and it’s thriving with new businesses. There’s already a new AMP opened for business. New motels are popping up across the street for places for the girls to stay. There’s many opportunities to chose from an AMP to Lizard Lot to an upscale provider at the various hotels.

Interesting. Pro business meets Bible Belt, I guess.
Governments everywhere would do better if they realized, as they eventually will, that trying to restrict behavior that is pretty widespread, and doesn't really harm anyone is never going to work. We are VERY backwards in this regard, compared to most other countries. Carryover of Victorian standards...which didn't even really apply then. Just as some of the most well stocked liquor cabinets in the world are in Saudi Arabia...it's not as if Victorian England had so sex outside of marriage. They just wanted the perception to be that they didn't. Several hundred years later, and we still suffer the consequences.

Not Victorian, Puritan. Those are the same people who burned witches at the stake. England didn’t want them, so they came here.

I hope ShysterJon weighs in on the topic soon. A lot of the more fanciful scenarios discussed in this thread are deserving of comment from a real lawyer with experience in this area.

Any thoughts? The put the money on the table when you are disrobing, and say nothing approach seems safe?
