This is Trump's plan to pull out, trump met with the Taliban, trump set a date of May 1 which wasn't a reasonable timeline so it was pushed back a couple of months. We haven't had a fighting force in Afghanistan for over 6 years. Any advances by the Taliban in Afghanistan mostly happened on Trump's watch.

After 20 years, it's time to pull out of the region. If Afghan people won't fight for themselves then that is on them. We'd probably give them all the arms and equipment they need, and we already have. Unfortunately most of the weapons have fallen to the Taliban.

Trump inherited it also. That's beside the point. There has only been a comparatively small security force in Afghanistan for over 6 years. A coalition fighting force of 100-150k would be needed to try to take back Afghanistan, and it would be 5 more years of war. We did what we could, these people are on their own. It seems to me like they are lazy goat herders that don't want to fight. A country that want's to fight needs to form a solid army of say 1 million. We would sell them all the arms and equipment they need for whatever resources they could give us.
