The only hitch I saw in the ending is that Jesse's fingerprints would be all over the meth lab and it would not take long for a BOLO and warrant to be issued. That of course would really complicate resuming his life. He would have to be on the run and change his identity and forever be looking over his shoulder.

And if you decide to invest your time in The Wire just know that is a show that builds gradually. A lot of people think its too slow and make the mistake and give up after 3 or 4 episodes. And it is nothing like Breaking Bad, it won't leave you at the edge of your seat like BB, it is almost like watching a documentary on the inner workings of a city. It's awesome, but you should probably know that going in.

+1

The Wire was an excellent series, and I enjoy seeing some of the actors and actresses from that series pop up on new shows, e.g., Wendell Pierce, Chad L. Coleman, Clarke Peters, Sonja Sohn, Reg E. Cathey, etc.

Watched the BB finale last night, but still haven't seen the first two seasons. The finale was very good, though putting one's trust in a M60 to fire 200 rounds at cyclic rate without a jam is being very optimistic.

Here's a link some of you might be interested in: "Creator Vince Gilligan explains series finale."

Not really.

First, there may be no need to fingerprint anything but the machine gun. That will have Walter's fingerprints on it and he is dead on the floor of the lab. The cops will piece together that the M60 was rigged to wipe out the club house and figure that Walt got hit by one of his own rounds.

Second, Jesse's fingerprints would only show that he was there, not WHEN he was there. So, Jesse can say he wasn't there on the night of the killing - that he had escaped a day or two earlier.

Furthermore, he can tell the truth and say that he was tortured into working in the lab - he has the injuries to prove it. So they can't even convict him of cooking meth.

Strangely enough, if he keeps his mouth shut about Gale Boedecker (the meth cook he killed), Jesse is probably the only one who can walk away clean from what he did.

Jesse's taped confession would be somewhere in the gang's hideout. Plus Marie and Skylar would both know of his involvement.

The Marty Robbins' tape with the song, "El Paso", really was a clever touch.

I agree. But heck, I couldn't get Badfinger's "Baby Blue" out of my head for days. THAT song choice was inspired!

Neither Marie nor Skylar have any direct knowledge of Jessie's involvement - especially Marie. They only know what other people told them (Walt and Hank). So it would be inadmissible hearsay in a court.

If the tape did survive, it is only Jessie sitting on a couch talking. There is no one one to corroborate it. Hank and Gomez are both dead. Jessie can say that he only said what Hank told him to say because Hank threatened to beat or kill him. Hank already is on record as having beaten Jessie so badly he put him in the hospital.

Also, the testimony on the tape wasn't so much about what Jessie did, it was primarily about what Walt did. Hank was trying to use it against Walt, not Jessie.

Basically Jessie can say anyone of a hundred things to invalidate the tape.

And whatever meth making involvement can be traced to him can be explained away by saying that he made it out of fear of dealing with Walt or dealing with Todd's gang.

The only thing Jessie did that was seriously criminal was killing Gale. If he did not mention that on the tape, he can pretty much walk away from it all. The rest of it was just meth making.

OMG, I just started watching it, and am now addicted. Every night I have a little marathon to try to catch up. This show is so well done. And the main actor.... what talent. So few are able to break out of their original mold with a series that ran so long, but he did it and did it so superbly that i can't even imagine him in his old role.

It's always been a basic rule of mine: No male actors in my porn; in all other types of movie--no women. Breaking Bad was in general a confirmation of this principle, but one thing got me thinking.

I wanted Jane to die at least as much as Walter did, but when Jesse's other girlfriend (Andrea) was executed, it nearly killed me too. Do I just have a thing for Mexican chicks, or is there some deeper reason?

It's the whole Madonna/Whore thing going.

Jane, who I didn't have anything against (I've always had a soft spot for weak women plagued with demons), died and she wasn't very good for Jessie.

Although it was awful to watch that scene, and to see Walter just watch her overdose, we all knew that she was probably destined for that fate at some point anyway. Never did seem to me that she had a good head for sobriety.

However, Andrea was the sweet and loving mother and cared for Jessie. I would consider her the Madonna. It was absolutely shocking when she was shot like she was.

I don't think the reason why my heart went up to my throat when she was so unceremoniously murdered was because "I have a thing for Hispanic chicks", although many can be beautiful and charming, but it was because we see her as an innocent.

We view Andrea as a benign, and loving, caregiver. Seems more tragic when the good die.

Like children. Mothers. Innocents.

That scene did add to the overall * charm* of Todd's character, didn't it?

Good points.

I'm so glad that a few people are still discussing this show! I'm still reeling from it being over. I miss it!

Thanks for your insights, and also for turning me on to this show some weeks ago. It chaps me a little that I've lost so many hours of sleep to my fascination with a phenomenon of popular culture (I also lived without a television set for a long time), but I suppose that Hamlet and Moby Dick were just such phenomena, a few years back.
