They just don't care to.

Still it's interesting that here in 2021 in the alleged freedom living state of Texas we come up with the most restrictive anti-prostitution laws at a state level that have ever existed in the history of our country. You'd have to go back to the Puritan days to get these sort of laws in the American colonies. I suppose in the way this is like a form of neo-puritanism.
When I Google this issue and the political activist group that lobbied for this law I see a sort of woke me-too movement driven by some very lopsided logic. But you're right it's nothing like some sort of political economic movement in the past that had some basis in reality somehow. Instead this movement depends on a social media reality that sort of marries cancel culture with the latest Rambo movie.

Big Ed motivated me to know who backed this draconian law... hmmm, all white people, no blacks or Latinos pushed for it. Perhaps BLM and ANTIFA will have to get involved if 95% of men-turned-felons are black and hispanic.

NYPD Cops Cash In on Sex Trade Arrests With Little Evidence, While Black and Brown New Yorkers Pay the Price
Some NYPD officers who police the sex trade, driven by overtime pay, go undercover to round up as many “bodies” as they can with little evidence. Almost no one they arrest is white.

Texas as a bastion of freedom?
Marry another guy? Check
Avoid wearing a mask? Check
Avoid the vaccine? Check
Carry your glock anywhere, anytime? Check
Make a financial transaction involving sexual contact, between consenting adults?
What?! The Hell you say!

Well that article that was linked was interesting. The level of sanctimony was rather palpable. It's funny they hint around like it's the Nordic model but in reality with our current laws the woman still gets punished more than the man does in the Nordic model in most places.
Anyways that article makes me think about all of the old movies that are insufficiently woke (probably Harvey films). They should take some of them like 'pretty women' and 'risky business' and 'nine and a half weeks' and 'The cable guy' and give them all a Texas remake!
As soon as that money is forked over the police pop out and the protagonist goes to jail between 6 months to two years and gets their proper government sponsored reeducation, I mean counseling. Then they learn how not to objectify women going forward. The movie will start out fun but end up 'kiss of the spider woman' or 'a clockwork orange'.

And the protagonist lives happily ever after as a celibate.
The perfect Hollywood film of the 2020s!

"Under the new Texas law, it remains a crime to solicit prostitution even if no money is exchanged (or other form of payment) and/or no sexual conduct transpires. It remains a crime in Texas merely to ask for sex in exchange for any type of payment."
So if a guy on a date buys the woman dinner and then goes with her back to her place and they have sex - he is guilty of felony solicitation?
We already know that all sex must be consentual, so before any sexual conduct takes place the guy would have to ask her if they can have sex. Whether the woman says "yes" or "no" doesn't matter, he asked for sex after giving her something of value (dinner).
Tell me how my assessment is wrong.

So your saying if I give the SO money or other gift, jewery, clothes, etc. Then have sex. I am committing a felony.
This is gonna cause problems.
I wonder if this matters if married or dating.
What about just hooking up.

It's over, I've been a "Lurker" for a long time. Only recently have I begun adding encounters...I just wanted to contribute something before the end.

One thing is certain imo... on Sept. 1 there will be many men who arent aware of this law. And there will be aggressive police (Lubbock, for example) trying to bust them. The Lubbock newspaper publishes mugshots. The men expecting a misdemeanor will be surprised by the felony charge.

Be very careful not to piss off your SO/date/hookup. They can get you locked up by calling police and saying "he gave me flowers then asked if we could have sex".

Seriously. I find it ironic how so many users on this site are politically conservative. If you ever want to see legalized or at least decriminalized prostitution, it’s not gonna be Republicans that will pass legislation, same for legal weed.
