What is Apollo without Dianna?
One sleeps while the other is awake.
Without the other they are nothing. And yet they watch over us and keep us safe.

I am very proud of my one and a half mediocre reviews It only took me three plus years to earn them .Now if that does not qualify me as a diamond I do not know what will, but for good measure I will also throw in the sexy avatar pic of my dog
So this is where everyone went.I was over in aspd having conversations with myself last night. It is nice to see so many familar faces here.

Reminds me of a pagan parting: May The mother walk before you, and the father behind. (referring of course, to male and female deity).

I never considered the mention of my education "bragging", just stating facts to make a point. Duh. If something like my education causes you to roll your eyes, then you have some serious issues and need to re-evaluate things in your life. I am very proud of all that I have accomplished. Plus, shouldn't education rightfully earn "bragging rights"? Goodness. I agree that it shouldn't be overused, but I never felt I did.
This snotty thread of "what constitutes a diamond and tuxedo" was created by NB. I thought the word "christen" related to diamond was self-righteous and unintelligent since it was her intent to keep girls like myself away from this particular board via a "christening" process. Who is she to make that remark? I took it personally. I contributed to this post using myself and experiences as an example and I believe it rubbed you the wrong way, I apologize.
You might be turned off by my attitude and arguments, but I was turned off by the initiator of this thread. I don't care for her attitude, either. I am not afraid to stand up to anyone and have survived many things which have made me stronger. It just sucks that so many have to gang up on one person, like a superficial high-school clique. I just can't seem to say anything right. I can go to sleep knowing that I am not pretending to be anyone else or someone who uses "fluffy" vocabulary and pretention in their marketing. I am me. That's liberating. I have nothing to prove to you. I was only making points relative to "diamond".
I don't think many of you ladies care for me much. I am my own competition and in a different league - that's refreshing. This board makes me really sad. Sad for women, especially when women of substance are shunned. I have nothing to prove to you ladies. My time is better used elswhere, not participating on these boards.
Good day,
Angelina
(Replying to this is useless since I will not respond and I will never participate in HDH/Diamonds ever again, not exactly my cup of tea. Mission Accomplished, NB - your "christening" worked)

NB started the thread as tongue-in-cheek in the grand tradition of these arguments over on ASPD.

I hope you'll reconsider. I, for one, appreciate (almost) everyone's participation in these boards. I don't think anyone was coming after you on a personal level, just discussing the question as its unfolded.
I think the undercurrent of what has been discussed here is that if you believe you're a diamond (or tuxedo), you are. There will always be those that try to convince you that you're wrong, but that's life, right? Personally, I'm not much of a tuxedo... More of a jeans-n-t-shirt who's party-crashing.

First off, the thread was meant as a joke. If you read aspd's HDH forum, over the years people would ask what makes an HDH and the thread would get long and drawn out and people would debate and argue and it turned ugly. Well, if this had only happened once or twice it would have just been sad. But, it happened dozens of times. Over and over new comers would come in and start a thread, "What makes an HDH?" It got to a point where old timers would just sit back and "make popcorn." It happened so often, it became comical and turned into a big joke on the HDH board. Even Ansley (forgive me if I am remembering wrong) started a thread over there recently titled Define an HDH. Then when you opened the thread you got a "psych". And then everyone laughed.
When I said "Christen" I meant it as: To use for the first time: christened the new car by going for a drive. Think of a ship being hit with a bottle of Champagne.
I was not being snobby. I didn't think anyone would take it seriously. I figured everyone would open the thread and say, "ha ha very funny" and be done. But, as it turned out it went the same way the old HDH threads did and in a way this board got to experience a little history from the other board. History repeating itself. Same responses, different posters, different board.
Well, my work is done. This board is now officially the new HDH board. And just like over there, everyone is welcome and everyone is a diamond if they choose to be.

Angelina,
My comment was not directed towards you or anyone in this thread and I apologize if it came across that way.
I never said that one should not be proud of education. In fact, I believe quite the contrary. I have the highest respect for those that have worked hard to earn their degrees. I was merely stating that I am turned off by those who believe that their degree/s automatically give them a sense of intellectual superiority over others. This was in reference to a few people I have known in my personal life (think Andy from The Office who constantly references going to Cornell). I never once felt that you were bragging about your education in the least bit.
I believe that this thread is meant to be light-hearted rather than elitist. I have yet to encounter the snobbery you mention. Perhaps I am blind to this forum's politics, but I also haven't seen any of the other ladies shun you. I'm sorry that you feel this way.
