I actually never heard of Lester, so that was probably Dadio with the call.

In defense to Mr. Jackson, it's not that the guy sucks, it's just that he doesn't play as good as a first round draft pick, at all.... He's pretty decent compared to just the average CB. But his best qualities are still rushing the passer and helping stop the run, which is not the greatest thing for a CB. I don't think we should cut him, I think he could be useful playing as a nickel, or maybe even a safety. That is, if he still doesn't continue to get beat deep. Another thing he has going against him is that he plays opposite of Joseph, so the QBs are always going to go to his direction.

And when it came to the post-season, he wasn't that shitty, the only big play he gave up was a Lee Evans pass which should have been called offensive pass interference.

The only thing I found surprising about the Jones cut is how long it took. What was the wait for? Hopefully Posey or Walter will be ready to play as the number one option if Dre goes down again next season.

For the most part, I agree with Don's philosophy as opposed to Satin's "cut now, ask questions later" approach to building a 52 man roster for a professional football team. Correct me if I am wrong but it was not K. Jackson's fault that he was a 1st round draft choice. Hindsight is always 20/20 and it is apparent that the Texans took him too early. That was then, this is now. A coaching staff should not cut a player because they took him too early. If the coaching staff is convinced that there are 52 other players on the roster better than KJ, that is a different story.

I recall an Oilers CB from the late 80's or early 90's named Chris Dishman. His first 2-3 years he was repeatedly burned on deep passes and inpatient fans on the sports talk shows were constantly talking about how he should be cut immediately. He went on to become one of the top starting CB's in the NFL and the best DB on the Oiler's team. In fact, he made All Pro several times. I am glad our coaching staff did not listen to the inpatient fans and cut him. His level of play paid huge dividends by the time he became a 4 or 5 year veteran.

I'm not saying that KJ will become another Dishman. But it is not out of the realm of possibility that he will! What I am saying is that he is worthy of a spot on the 52 man roster for now and hopefully he will develop into a serviceable defensive back, whether it be at Corner or at Safety. At the very least, he might become a good special teams player! Let's give him some time and let him mature as opposed to cutting him now and running the risk of him becoming another teams All Pro.

Fuel for thought: Which team once drafted Jason Babin in the first round of the NFL draft and later gave up on him?

The Cat and Mouse game played between CBs and WRs will always favor the WR in the early stages. WRs are great at setting up CBs early then making the move when it really counts. That's why it takes time for a CB to mature. DEs do it to OTs as well. A new CB is almost always facing a veteran WR who has set up CBs before. Once the CB has faced them a few times they aren't as easily fooled, know the WRs tendencies and can play with more confidence. With all that said KJ has had two full years to learn the mind games and adapt. If he doesn't make significant improvements this year I might be on Satin's side of the field.

You could probably talk me into a GTFO party for KJ next year but we are thin this year. I get pissed at the coaches for calling the secondary kids or too young. This gives them an excuse, screw that they ar pro football players!!! Suck it up and cover somebody. I can't believe all the CB's we have drafted and none of them are worth a shit yet. The Brandon Harris kid from Miami had Deion Sanders getting a wood at the draft combine and he hardly played for the Texans. I am ready for some CB development and improvement by somebody, anybody. I do think KJ lacks speed and that is why he is toast more times than not. With the rush package we can put on the field, that should make almost any CB look pretty darn good!

As for Lestar Jean, I called it. I went to a training camp practice last summer and he looked real real good that day. At these practices you are right on the field with these guys, he was eating our crappy corners up that day. J. Joseph was nursing some type of injury that day so he was abusing KJ and the rest of the CBs. He has AJ type size hopefully he will pull an Arian Foster type eye opening season and emerge as a real threat. If that happens we could be on our way to the Super Bowl. Can't Wait!!!

Ok guys I hear all your points and they are well taken. I was a CB and I have an idea about the position and I just don't think he has what it takes...but I digress.
He's young, I get it. He faces top WR's, I understand. But the guy has bad technique and instincts and I don't know if that's "fixable"...

The coaches see something in him, so I will trust their judgement. But the first TD that fucker gives up, I'm gonna be on here talking shit to all you "let's save KJ for one more year" lovers...

Daddio, let's go to training camp (to view) together bro when it starts to check out these new guys. I am sure Cat-Man will come too...

I was just hoping we could have one GTFO party for him along with Jacoby at the same time...

Crazy day. That's really too bad that Seau had to go out the way he did.

Surprised Vilma got an entire year. I don't mind tho, don't think too highly of the Saints given all that has happened.

I realize hindsight is 20/20 but I am glad that Houston picked Mario and not VY or Reggie.

KJ lacks speeds and gives space when he turns his hips. Often he loses track of the ball and is so far away from the receiver that he can't read their eyes and use the trick of putting his hand between a receivers outstretched hands in anticipation.

The whole league knows it. Even if he improves this year to "serviceable", he's already a waste of a first round draft pick.

I can't help but wonder if you once said that Chris Dishman "lacks speeds and gives space when he turns his hips. Often he loses track of the ball and is so far away from the receiver that he can't read their eyes and use the trick of putting his hand between a receivers outstretched hands in anticipation."

That's the spirit! Y'all "watch the games" more than Rick, Kubes, Wade and the rest of the Texans coaching staff. They're not actually "watching the games." Those guys are only "watching" the cheerleaders on game day and "watching" porn flicks every night in the film room. What the hell does the Texans Staff know about professional football?

There is absolutely no chance KJ could even be a "serviceable" special teams player, much less a Safety, Nickle Back or friggin' Corner. I say we do the same thing to KJ that we did to Jason Babin. Let's give up on him early and go ahead and cut him now and run the risk of him one day becoming some other teams All Pro, errrrrrrrrr, I meant to say headache!

Let's keep those positive vibes a comin' guys!

Lol, you're wrong so much it's almost best to ignore you and your sarcasm, but I guess you know more than everyone right? Hell, you should be a football coach or scout. NOT!!!

Hopefully we can get more useful or positive responses on the matter. I prefer to focus on the draft and the upcoming season. Yep, keep 'em coming "coach"...lmao...

But yeah that's a good strategy: let's keep throwing a slow, technique lacking 2nd year player out to start so opposing QB's can just light his ass up with TD's. Great move. Barry Warner and Brad Davies on sports 610 just talked about the fact it was a mistake to draft this guy with the first pick. But hey, what do they know right?

Good post Gnadfly....

Apparently you do not actually read or try to comprehend the posts. You prefer to assume you know what is meant. Whether KJ starts or not is not for me to decide. Neither is it your decision, unless you're on the Texan's coaching staff. The buck stops at Kubes and Wade. I did imply that KJ may need additional time to develop and during that period could play Special Teams, if nothing else. I also said the mere fact that he is on the 52 man roster is a clear indication that the coaching staff believes he is one of the 52 best players for them to choose from.

As for me coaching a professional football team, I am content to rely upon the experience and expertise of Kubes, Wade and their Staff. Whomever the coaching staff believes offers us the best opportunity to win is quite all right with me. Is that also acceptable to you or do you feel you know more than Kubes and Wade?

Gnadfly and Satin, keep up the good work and more importantly remain positive. This just might be the year Schaub takes us to the Super Bowl! If so, I will buy you a lap dance with JoJo! Gnadfly can pay for his own.

Damn....Jacoby's locker is still warm and now it's.......NEXT!!! Kareem...where are you. Oops...he won't answer to that because he only knows the name..Toast!!

I kid i kid!!!

Yes Kareem has not performed to the expectations of a 1st rounder, I do agree!! My take is and just for the sake of another angle. Kareem came into the league soon after some changes to the rules concerning contact with the receivers...right? If you look around the league, penalties against db's have skyrocketed these last couple of seasons. Hell all a QB needs to do is throw the ball deep....either it's caught or the pass interference penalty moves the chain. Personally, I blame the defensive backs coaches for not having the young guys better prepared for games. Mental preparation is a huge part of playing this game we so love.

He has had some serius lack of performance issues....but I will say that he has made some plays too. If i would do anything with him, I would cut his pay, move him to special teams and let him learn in practice and use him in situational roles. Use the money to bring in veteran db help and your problem is solved!!!
