I disagree, BL.
1) 10-11 people were hauled downtown, displayed on the news, and several women (+ 1 guy) were exposed in the Houston Press with real names, mug shots, etc.;
2) As to the women, most pled out, and only 2 fought and ultimately had charges dropped. At least 2 that pled out were smart enough to have their records sealed/expunged - later.
3) Some that weren't arrested were patted down and questioned; others were seen on news report;
4) Those that were "told to go home" had to 1st endure shaking in their boots, for what seemed like 10-15 minutes, with masked Vice officers telling them to neither speak nor move. Sure they went free in the end, but it was not a pleasant experience I'd want to repeat.
5) You are correct that they didn't yield near as many busts as they had hoped, but the indictments against those they did arrest were quite lengthy and detailed. To say "
nothing was happening" is myopic, because if half the conversations detailed in the indictment took place, enough was happening for their purpose - or so they thought. You may not have been approached but many were. I'll leave it at that.
"...
nothing came of the Christmas party bust..."
Sad to hear, because what should have been learned is (to name a few):
1) If you advertise a party on a public SHMB, together with a blueprint on how to obtain an invite, some "unintended" guests will be invited - especially with enough advance notice;
2) A handful of those that don't get invited get their panties in a wad and may garner info about the whereabouts from those who did
;
3) If anyone believes a large group of hooktards and fucktards will ALL follow rules about what may or may not take place, they are beyond naive;
4) Inviting people you don't know personally nor vouched for by a trusted friend who does increases risk factor;
5) Inviting fucktards based on vouch of a hooktard 1st verified a 1-2 weeks earlier based on reviews by unknown newbies is also
a blueprint for failure
.
But, that's just me....
EDIT: Thank you, Rifleman, for saying what I should/could have in a few concise words. Wish I'd seen before I posted.
