Default Has the linking to youtube and some images been cut?

Hello,

Just curious if any changes had been made because I have never had problems linking to youtube or .jpg images on the internet.

Recently I have run into issues though. None of these worked:

We don't have raw html code enabled in posts.

As for the youtube/slide, etc. linking, yes the feature has been pulled temporarily and is under construction to expand the functionality. For now, links to youtube will have to do...

If you want to make it look better until the youtube functionality improves, you can insert a photo or screenshot of the video, and link that image to the video like this:

Check out this great video of Bill Hicks (click to play):

First, find the photo you want and insert the address using pic icon (looks like a postcard) on your menu. Then click that photo to highlight it, go back to the menu bar and click the internet link icon (looks like a globe) and then insert the address to the video in the pull down box.

Excellent!

I guess I may have just stumbled on a bunch of Wong Fook Hing pictures to try to link to.

Boo! Bring us back the code, please. We love embedded links and stuff.

You would have to ask somebody more computer-smart than me like Gniess Guy, but I think some websites send spiders looking for their content property and insert that (or even more annoying) type of message to prevent you from linking. I recall one that really hacked me off because at first it worked and looked good in a thread, then a few days later it was replaced with a bold message saying "this picture was STOLEN from our site." Long after you could go in and edit and swap it for a different photo.

Sites will do that for various reasons. Copyright, for example. Also, to reduce the demand for bandwidth caused by the links because they get charged for that.
