Thumbs up "Treme" - season two finally premieres tonight!

How many of y'all thought David Simon's HBO series "Treme" was the bomb last year?

After first episode, I packed up the family and went straight to NOLA for some music, food and partying. I've watched the entire first season three times (OK, I'll finish the third time through this afternoon) and tonight will be glued to the TV as Season Two begins.

If you haven't watched it, "Treme" is a drama set in New Orleans three months after Katrina and features the people trying to come home and make sense of their lives post storm/flood/fema, etc.

Featured some incredible NOLA musicians/music, too, many of whom play here in Austin regularly, like Rebirth Brass Band, the Nevilles, Trombone Shorty, Galactic, John Boutte, etc. Even has music and performance by some of the legends, like Alain Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Frogman Henry, Dr. John, and more.

I'm getting very pumped!

Might even have to do a little buckjumpin' in da second line!

I won't leave ya hangin', bro! Yeah, it takes some watching to catch the flavor, but Treme was pretty amazing. Season 2 episode 1 doesn't move things along much, but probably sets the stage for interesting developments. LOTS of music performances in the episode!

It ain't "The Wire"--best television show ever made--but it's still pretty danged terrific.

Well I live in Nola but don't care much for the show. I mean they totally left out the best parts of New Orleans which are all Uptown lol.

Everyone thinks we live in the slum or the Bayou down here. Most don't even know land exists south of New Orleans where the real bayou country is.

I am more of a "True Blood" fan.

London, what would you think if the show was set in San Francisco instead of your back yard?

I think it's an excellent David Simon drama. I'm sure the folks of B'more didn't much care for "The Wire" either.

Love the show. I really like the characters. Well, all except for the drug addicted ex-boyfriend of Annie's. And I really like it that the series creators are letting Wendell Pierce's character, Antoine Batiste, sing a little bit. I am really looking forward to seeing what kind of band he puts together. He is by far my favorite character.
